For years solid-state batteries have been heralded as the breakthrough EV technology that will lower vehicle prices while increasing charging speeds. The goal is charging times on par with refilling a vehicle with gasoline while also shrinking the size of the batteries without losing range. Solid-state batteries are supposed to do all of that, but the technology has been difficult to master.
