Akkodis is looking for an Electrical Engineer for a contract position located in San Diego, CA.
24-month contract with possible extension
Onsite in San Diego, CA
Pay rate: $45.75 - $49.25/hourly
Electrical Engineer (Quality) - Print Permanence, Product Design and Quality Management.
Position Description:
Media (Printing Substrates) Supplies and Solutions are a core part of HP Print business.
The position plays a key role in ensuring the "best in class" quality of the current and future HP/ColorPRO/ColorLOK media and ink portfolios via quality management of media test laboratories (with a focus on print permanence), complemented by electrical product design consultancy as concerned with in-house and external equipment.
Responsibilities:
• Print permanence leadership for HP as concerned with testing, equipment maintenance, support of marketing messages and cross-functional work with HP legal.
• Media test laboratories quality management as concerned with driving testing methodology reviews, tracking of equipment calibration, maintenance, replacement and budget.
• Electrical/mechanical design consultancy for in-house created robotized testing equipment and other NPI products.
Minimum Qualifications:
• A Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering.
• Engineering fundamentals - general electrical/mechanical, data analysis and hypothesis design.
• Proven ability to operate in ambiguity, being a self-starter and completing objectives on/ahead of time.
• Demonstrated ability in building relationships, breaking through barriers, and resolving issues.
• Organization/Project management skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Knowledge of ISO 18909:2006 and general lightfastness information as concerned with indoor illumination, indoor daylight and outdoor print permanence.
• Understanding of spectrophotometers and colorimetry as concerned with CIELAB (L a b ), Delta CIELAB, graphic arts densitometry (reflection density/transmission densitometry) and color gamut.
• Understanding of statistical process control (SPC) and process capability.
• Understanding of Gage R&R concepts.
• Expertise in software packages such as Minitab and JMP.
• Familiarity with databases and database management programs such as MS Access.
• Exceptional Excel skills (pivot tables, pivot charts, functions, VBA).
Applies advanced subject matter knowledge to solve complex business issues and is regarded as a subject matter expert. Frequently contributes to the development of new ideas and methods. Works on complex problems where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of multiple factors. Leads and/or provides expertise to functional project teams and may participate in cross-functional initiatives. Acts as an expert providing direction and guidance to process improvements and establishing policies. Frequently represents the organization to external customers/clients. Exercises significant independent judgment within broadly defined policies and practices to determine best method for accomplishing work and achieving objectives. May provide mentoring and guidance to lower level employees. Responsibilities: Leads multiple project teams of other electrical hardware engineers and internal and outsourced development partners responsible for all stages of electrical hardware design and development for complex products, solutions, and platforms, including design, validation, tooling and testing. Manages and expands relationships with internal and outsourced development partners on electrical hardware design and development. Reviews and evaluates designs and project activities for compliance with technology and development guidelines and standards; provides tangible feedback to improve product quality. Provides domain-specific expertise and overall electrical/electronic hardware and platform leadership and perspective to cross-organization projects, programs, and activities. Drives innovation and integration of new technologies into projects and activities in the electrical hardware design organization. Provides guidance and mentoring to less- experienced staff members. Education and Experience Required: Bachelor's or Master's degree in electrical engineering. Typically, 6-10 years' experience. Knowledge and Skills: Using electrical design tools and software packages. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. Experience in overall architecture of electronic hardware for products and solutions. Designing and integrating electronic components, integrated circuitry, and algorithms into overall architecture. Evaluating and proposing forms of empirical analysis, modeling and testing methodologies to validate component, circuit, and hardware designs and thermal/emissions management. Excellent written and verbal communication skills; mastery in English and local language. Ability to effectively communicate product architectures, design proposals and negotiate options at senior management levels.
