Overview

The Quality Assurance Manager is responsible for effectively planning and directing the Quality Assurance programs at the Salina facility. Manage the daily activities and responsibilities of the Quality Assurance personnel.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership in managing the daily activities of the Quality Assurance personnel.
  • Assure adherence to quality specifications for raw materials, goods in process, and finished products.
  • Disseminate quality information to production and others affected in a format consistent with TS16949:2002 requirements.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor to assure compliance with inspection and sampling techniques that produce products that meet company and customer standards.
  • Conduct research on production defects and recommend modifications in product or manufacturing processes to improve quality.
  • Interface with customers and vendors to solve problems and find solutions to quality concerns.
  • Monitor key quality indicators and react as necessary to insure continuous improvement.
  • Assure required training for Quality Assurance personnel.
  • Oversee maintenance and controls of all manuals, specifications, procedures etc., which are related to the Quality Assurance Dept.
  • Assist with scrap control measures.
  • Encourage and submit cost savings ideas.
  • Recognize potential in subordinates and take affirmative action to develop and promote employees.
  • Actively promote safety and health programs.
  • Promote cooperation between shifts and assure positive communication avenues.
  • Follow Excell Lean Manufacturing procedures.
  • Comply with current Quality Systems requirements.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Plant manager or requested by corporate officials

Qualifications

Physical Requirements:
  • Sitting, standing, and walking as necessary.

Equipment Used:
  • General office equipment, PC and various software applications.
  • Personal protective equipment as required.

Education, Experience, Skills Required:
  • Bachelor's degree in a related technical field (chemistry, chemical, or other engineering discipline) or years of experience in the battery industry
  • Minimum of five years' experience within the Quality, Engineering, and/or Statistical field
  • Must be proficient with spreadsheet, database, and statistical software (ex. MS Excel, Minitab)
  • Excellent communication skills for interacting with employees, vendors, and customers.
