Summary

The Operations Support Engineer support the Operations Support management team with daily tasks and reporting to accomplish goals and projects. This position is responsible for conducting aerial and terrestrial surveying for the purposes of engineering and inventory evaluation. The position will also learn the functions of each operation's responsibilities and goals to help identify areas for process improvement within the plants.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for your own personal safety as well as maintaining the highest standard of safety and quality in all aspects of the job. Be familiar with and follow CRH Life Saving Rules.
  • Operate small Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (sUAV) surveying systems for inventory, mine planning, drill & blasting initiatives, topographic mapping, and stripping calculations.
  • Operate sUAV systems for capturing digital media for inspection, operational, and promotional needs.
  • Conduct inventory review and analysis including the bi-annual physical-to-book inventory assessment process for all locations and lines of business.
  • Help maintain updated mine mapping database.
  • Assists engineers and surveyors in laying out and directing mine construction operations, such as location and development of ramps and positioning of mining area, access roads etc.
  • Supports CAPEX project management.
  • Assist with a wide variety of plant projects on both a small and large scale.
  • Provide process improvement feedback and develop plans to implement in the plants.
  • Establish and maintain effective communications within all areas of the operations.
  • Demonstrate a positive, upbeat attitude and energy level toward teammates, peers, and customers.
  • Adhere to all state and federal regulations, if applicable, as set forth by the US Department of Transportation (DOT), Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA), or any other regulatory agency.
  • Will work with the team to ensure company compliance with mandated safety and environmental policies on all mining/material production practices.
  • Perform various tasks and duties as required by the Operations Support department.
  • Establish and follow a development plan in Success Factors to train/obtain skills.


Education/Experience
  • Mining related associates or bachelors' diploma OR minimum of 4 years of experience in mining operations.
  • FAA Part 107 Commercial drone pilot license required or will be able to acquire licensure within 90 days.
  • Previous surveying or sUAV piloting experience preferred.

  • Willing to learn and discover new software systems (such as Carlson) and technologies (new drones, surveying equipment).
  • Must be willing to travel and work away from home when required.
  • Must be willing to work nights and weekends when necessary.
  • Strict adherence to safety requirements and procedures as outlined in the Environmental, Health & Safety Manual.
  • Strong Team player who is highly self-motivated and can work independently when needed.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organization and multi-tasking skills.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Must have valid driver's license.
