SUMMARY

The Health, Safety and Environmental Representative is responsible for supporting all health, safety, and environmental initiatives in the plant or location. This position supports a safe working environment for employees while maintaining compliance with safety-related legal requirements and the international organization for standardization (ISO) guidelines.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Serves as Environmental Management Representative for the plant. Assist with the development, implementation, monitoring, and enforcement of health, safety, and environmental (HSE) programs, policies, and procedures to ensure compliance with company, Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), federal, state, and local guidelines. Air Emissions Regulations: permitting, reporting including Tier II, Form R, RCRA Hazardous Waste-Large Quantity Generator
  • Research, develop, and implement the most effective HSE action plans to reduce hazards and improve overall metrics.
  • Integrate regulatory requirements and best practices into programs to improve outcomes and prevent incidents.
  • Maintain safety and health recordkeeping systems such as safety inspections, observations, and exposure monitoring records.
  • Experience in Lead environment highly desirable
  • Support all HSE activities to meet the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) guidelines. Knowledge in ISO 14001 & ISO 45001
  • Conduct internal HSE audits and inspections in accordance with company, ISO, and regulatory guidelines.
  • Assist with accident investigations, including conducting root cause analysis and developing corrective action plans.
  • Workers' Compensation Experience required.
  • Utilize a variety of industrial hygiene monitoring, sampling, and analytical equipment and instruments to evaluate chemical and noise exposures, maintain detailed records of sampling activities. Experience in high-risk operations: lead, Casting (molten metal), Handling Coiled strip
  • Review new machinery, equipment, and plant layout changes to ensure a proactive HSE approach and compliance with all regulations.
  • Ensure appropriate personal protective equipment is available for employees.
  • Keep up to date on current and emerging local, state, and federal HSE guidelines.
  • Knowledgeable in OSHA Lead Standard and best practices

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health, Environmental Health/Science, Chemistry, Biology, or related field from an accredited four-year college or university preferred, or equivalent related experience.
  • Five - 10 years direct experience in HSE.
  • Requires a Class A License in Waste Water.
  • Experience in Waste Water required, including sampling and reporting results to the State.
  • Ability to identify and solve problems, to work within deadlines with a high attention to detail, and to work independently in a fast paced, dynamic environment
  • Strong business acumen and the ability to influence and develop strong working relationships with all levels of employees, including HSE colleagues and senior level management and/or executive.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including presentation delivery
  • Must have broad, basic understanding of federal, state, and local health, safety, and environmental laws and regulations. Knowledge of State's drinking water requirements (sampling /reporting).
  • Advanced computer skills, especially in MS Office
  • Certified safety professional certification (CSP) preferred
