Senior Transmission Planning Engineer - Utility - Orlando, Florida
The Company:
A power company, whose main purpose is to provide low cost power to utilities across Florida so the citizens have affordable power supply, is seeking a senior transmission planning engineer.
The Role:
In close partnership with the Transmission Planning Engineer, this role leads advanced technical endeavors encompassing a wide spectrum of long-term and short-term transmission planning activities. As the lead subject matter expert, the position oversees and directly carries out these crucial studies and their associated deliverables. Additionally, it involves the collection, management, and calculation of modeling data for both agency and member assets, as needed for the Agency's Planning Coordinator function. Furthermore, the role plays a vital role in supporting their NERC Compliance function, ensuring compliance with TO, TP, and/or PA/PC function registrations while staying updated on evidentiary and documentation requirements. Collaboration is key in this highly matrixed environment, working closely with generation engineering and operations staff to ensure compliance objectives are met while upholding all Code of Conduct standards.

- Supports FMPA in FRCC operational planning.
- Ensures participation in FRCC coordination.
- Assists Transmission Planning Engineer and bolsters redundancy.
- Conducts specialized transmission planning assessments.
- Manages interconnection and system studies.
- Oversees power flow and system stability.
- Prepares NERC compliance reports and maintains data.
- Represents the Agency in FRCC committees and studies.
- Manages FERC filings and annual updates.
- Leads in functional registrations and compliance.
- Provides expertise on NAESB practices and Transmission Tariff issues.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor in Electrical Engineering required.
- Masters Degree in Electrical Engineering prefered.
- Minimum of 3+ years experience in a transmission planning and interconnection studies.
- Experience in electric power utilities.
- Knowledge of NERC standards preferred.
- Ability to work in Orlando 4 days a week.
