GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF RESPONSIBILITIES
Help establish, maintain and enforce departmental software design and coding standards.
Enforce design standards and review of technical specs before any development starts.
Enforce standards through peer reviews of code before going to turnover/BA testing.
Ensures accuracy and completeness of data in master files and various support tools, such as base dictionaries.
Proposes and implements enhancements that will improve the performance and reliability of the system.
Help train new programmers on procedures and coding standards (CL, RPG, RGPLE, Free, SQL, etc.).
Help in iSeries considerations/decisions as far as environments, refreshes, etc.
Owner of turnover, make sure it is up to date, purged out, etc.
Help Monitor TrackIt for incoming orders, support of help desk requests and help assign work to programmers.
Once specs are done by the BA group help assign the projects to programmers.
Help keep up with the projects, notes, TrackIt and report to management on timely basis.
Help with prioritizing tasks/projects so resources are used in an efficient manner.
Research new technologies and make recommendations to management and train programmers on the new technology.
Ability to establish and maintain positive relationships with non-IT personnel at all levels in the business
Strong organizational skills with the ability to work on multiple projects against strict deadlines
Thorough knowledge of the software development lifecycle.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Minimum of 10 years of a combination of RPG-ILE, RPG Free Form, CL, CLLE or Embedded SQL experience
Available to provide assistance during and after-hours to support business and operations. Provides support to on-call programmers needing assistance.
High level troubleshooting abilities, coupled with analytical and debugging skills necessary to analyze issues related to RPGLE and CLLE, ability to modify programs, write fix programs to correct data, if necessary.
Experience with database performance tuning, database security, and database management.
Able to write software code; excellent knowledge of appropriate programming language(s)
Proficient with structured query language (SQL) through query writing and/or ad hoc reporting
Able to meet aggressive deadlines.
Strong knowledge of manufacturing and distributions systems.
Strong knowledge of applicable Change Management System.
Excellent communication and interaction skills.
Ability to use Office products (Excel, Word, Power Point, Access, Project, Visio)
Some travel required
