Job Description

Select's Field Engineer is an introductory position into Select's Engineering Team. The Field Engineer provides I&E support to the Technology Team. Duties primarily include building, implementing, and maintaining automation solutions as well as providing training to operators and other technicians. This position is mostly field based and could consist of 50%+ travel and/or time in the field. The fieldwork will be project and operations based, so it will entail longer hours ( 60 per week) and could include work on nights and weekends.

The essential job functions include, but are not limited to
  • Provide direct support to the engineering manager regarding technological development, operations, and solutions used in the company
  • Learn and operate Select's existing technology solutions
  • Help develop new technology for complex problems facing the company
  • Provide technical and operational support to field automation personnel
  • Work alongside engineers, technician, and operations
  • Lead testing and implementation in the field for new products and projects
  • Design systems for areas of expertise
  • Ensure quality of product is a focus for all engineering development and operations. Develop procedures, standards and guidelines that support the delivery of a quality product
  • Maintain an organized, efficient, and safe working environment

Requirements

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required:
  • Bachelor's degree is preferred.
  • Minimum of an A.S. or B.S in Engineering, Tech, or similar program or relevant work experience
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Proficient and proactive verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficient with MS Office Suite - Excel, Word, Outlook
  • Strong process development skills. Able to identify and resolve complex issues
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently with limited supervision with strong initiative and finishing skills
  • Preferred experience with PLCs and/or SCADA systems
  • Ability to prioritize tasks to achieve deadlines in a changing environment
  • Hands on attitude able get things to a successful conclusion

Physical Demands and Exposures
  • Work is regularly performed in outside weather conditions, including rain and extreme cold and heat, near moving mechanical parts; exposure to high wind, ice, snow, wet and/or humid conditions, vibration, and dust is expected.
