Purpose:
Provides the electrical expertise to manage electrical projects or electrical components of an overarching project that ensures regulatory, efficiencies, and safety of our electrical systems. Works extensively with manufacturing leadership, cross-disciplined engineers, and technicians to design, commission, maintain, troubleshoot, and improve electrical systems while providing guidance from a safety and regulatory perspective.

Purpose:

Works extensively with manufacturing leadership, cross-disciplined engineers, and technicians to design, commission, maintain, troubleshoot, and improve electrical systems while providing guidance from a safety and regulatory perspective.
Responsibilities:
- Project management - Manage, plan, organize and execute projects from the concept phase through full installation while ensuring that the projects are completed on time, meet the expectations of the internal customers, and are within budget. Responsibilities include the full life cycle of project management including planning, defining scopes, requesting and analyzing quotes or bid packages, data and cost analysis, directing outside engineering firms, working with original equipment manufacturers, procuring equipment, overseeing outside contractors, and Management of Change.
- Continuous improvement - Identify opportunities for continuous improvement and applications for new technology. Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and organizations that can enhance the asset's reliability, reduce the operating costs, and optimize the processes.
- Technical Assistance and Troubleshooting - Provide on demand engineering expertise to operations, maintenance, and management. Ability to diagnose and resolve electrical issues promptly to minimize disruption in the dependability of electrical systems. Post results, can develop and implement solutions to enhance the reliability of the electrical systems.
- Electrical systems and asset management - Ability to coordinate routine inspections, preventive maintenance, and repairs on electrical systems, including transformers, motors, switchgear, AC/DC drives, and control panels to improve reliability, minimize downtime, and ensure optimal performance.
- Safety compliance - Ensuring that electrical systems and equipment comply with internal procedures, safety regulations, and standards, taking proactive measures to mitigate the electrical hazards. Have an electrical designing approach on systems to include the event of emergencies such as power disruptions, failures of mechanical components, and proximity of people operating the equipment.
- Energy efficiency - Identify opportunities to improve energy efficiencies in electrical systems with replacements in kind or innovative solutions. This reduction in energy should be recognized in energy consumption and environmental impact.
- Communication and collaboration - Ability to collaborate and communicate to internal customers and cross-functional teams to secure scope and minimize disruptions to the project's plans. Provide leadership, coaching and mentoring for on-site engineering support contractors.
- Documentation and standardization - Maintain accurate prints and standards within applicable systems (e.g. Adept, GIS, Document Management, PLC MOC logs) to include schematics, project logs, and equipment manuals. Have a keen ability and understanding on the long-term impacts that updating documentation has on the design for reliability.
- Training - Ability to organize and/or execute training and guidance on new or enhanced electrical systems to maintenance technicians and internal customers. Training being tailored to the intended audience to include the electrical systems and safety protocols associated with a project.
Technical Skills:
- Strong knowledge of electrical systems, PLCs, motor controls, and instrumentation.
- Project management experience, from idea creation to commissioning.
- Mentality aligned to a design for reliability.
- Single line, 2D and 3D electrical drawing interpretations, development, and enhancements.
- Proficiency in electrical design software and CAD systems.
- Strong communication skills and collaboration capabilities to understand the voice of the customer.
- Familiarity with industrial standards and safety regulations.
- Problem solving and analytical skills.
- Communication and teamwork skills.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Electrical Engineering with at least 7 years of experience in project management, electrical engineering troubleshooting, or electrical systems.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master of Electrical Engineering, Leadership, or Business with at least 5 years of experience in project management, electrical engineering troubleshooting, or electrical systems.
- Professional Engineer preferred.
- Certified Maintenance Reliability Professional preferred.
- Project Management Professional preferred.
