Roles and Responsibilities:
We are seeking a Turnaround (TAR) Project Manager Leader within our Project Manager team located at office in Houston, Texas. The person is accountable for the overall execution of major capital projects implemented during plant turnarounds within the Americas Industrial Gases hydrogen business. The successful candidate will supervise a team of Project Managers.
The TAR team is focused on leading major plant expansions, upgrades, and large-scale maintenance activities. This includes the complete project cycle from development through field execution. Projects are typically implemented during 24x7 outages lasting 20-40 days.
The TAR Project Manager Leader is expected to be present at outages in support of TAR PMs as the need arises, and execute projects as assigned. Some level of occasional travel to engineering offices and plant sites will also be required, up to 20% of the time.
The ability to lead a cross-function team during the development, planning, and execution of an outage is crucial to being successful in this role. This specifically includes the ability to get along with all levels of the organization from business managers, engineers, procurement, and operations. This person will report to the Director Project Management, Americas.
Required Skills / Abilities:
Maintain a safe work environment and support corporate and interpersonal safety goals in the office, suppliers, fabrication, and field sites.
Provide leadership to the TAR team; supervise all project execution and act as the groups representative in management forums.
Serves as the primary interface between Engineering and Operations. During development, work with Operations to define the scope of work. This may include the investigation of existing equipment operating deficiencies, developing new solutions with Engineering, as well as evaluating multiple options.
Following the definition of scope, establishes strategies for execution, procurement, construction, and start-up. Works with AP cost estimating and project controls resources to estimate cost and schedule for funding authorization.
Overall management of all aspects affiliated to the project performed by Air Products, including work done within engineering (Machinery, Electrical, Civil/Structural, etc.) and supporting organizations such as Procurement, Safety, Quality, etc.
Develop and lead a successful project team that includes the core Air Products project members, other Air Products functions, external partners, vendors, equipment manufacturers, and customer representatives.
Education Requirements:
Bachelors in engineering or related field.
PMP or another Project Management Certification is highly desirable.
Project Management skills, knowledge, and at least 10 years of experience in capital project execution.
Concurrent experience in maintenance and/or engineering fields, industrial outages, hydrogen manufacturing, refineries, or other industries.
High ethical standards - unwilling to compromise on worker safety and regulatory compliance requirements.
Ability to read and understand P&IDs, piping isometrics, equipment design packages, and specifications.
Proficient in the use of computers and business software, including Microsoft (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, OneNote, Outlook) and familiarity with Primavera P6 and/or MS Project.
Passport and TWIC; or ability to obtain.
