Our client, in the aerospace, defense industry is seeking a Proposal and Technical Writer join their team. You will be supporting the engineering teams. The ideal candidate will be a team player, interested in collaboration in person, and detail-oriented, which will align successfully in the organization. This is a fully on site position. Occasional remote days are available as needed but this is a collaborative, in-person position.

Job Title: Proposal Technical Writer

Location: Springville, Utah

Pay Range: $75k - $85K

What's the Job?
  • The company designs, builds, and supports security and intelligence products. Core expertise is in small, lightweight, low-cost radar systems for unmanned and manned aircraft, primarily in the military domain. Cover the entire lifecycle, often beginning with defining a market where none exists, designing and building the product, training the customer on how to use the system, and supporting it in the field with field service technicians or an embedded analyst team within the unit supported.


What's Needed?
  • Understand and can use, create, fix, and update spreadsheets, including spreadsheets with advanced formulas.
  • Have experience in US Government acquisitions and program management and can write competitively to respond to requests from those entities.
  • Strong understanding of government acquisition processes, including familiarity with relevant regulations and standards (e.g., FAR, SBIR, STTR).
  • Write clearly, concisely, and quickly while following generally accepted grammar rules.
  • Strong analytical skills and can interpret complex data and identify cost drivers.
  • Prepare accurate cost estimates, considering labor, materials, subcontractor costs, and other relevant factors.
  • Can quickly learn about technologies that are new to you by researching a variety of online and printed sources and by interviewing subject matter experts.
  • Reduce complex engineering terminology, speech, and vernacular into clear and concise written documents.
  • Capable of writing according to requirements established in solicitations, regulations, and style guides.
  • Accurately gauge customer needs and understanding and persuasively write in a tone and at a level that matches the audience.
  • Seek for and readily accept and apply feedback on written documents or spreadsheets from management, engineering, and business development.
  • Teach and mentor others in good cost estimating/technical writing principles and practices while staying updated on industry trends, government regulations, and emerging best practices.
  • Comfortable with and capable of interfacing with customers as needed.
  • Adapt to changing priorities and work well under tight deadlines.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills to handle multiple projects with varying deadlines.
