Description

The Maritime Systems Division (MSD) of Leidos develops, integrates, and deploys advanced technology solutions that address existing and emerging maritime missions for a range of customers across the Department of Defense (DoD). In that regard, it is imperative for us to engage an exceptional professional as a Manufacturing Engineer at our Long Beach, MS facility.

MSD is an industry leader in developing, applying, and advancing state of the art signal processing technologies and hardware/software systems for C4ISR including distributed netted sensor systems, communications systems, positioning systems, tactical decision systems, and autonomous unmanned platforms. Leidos maritime systems are addressing complex mission requirements and pioneering impressive firsts in the application of novel physical insights translated into advanced signal processing solutions and applied to the full range of maritime missions. The successful applicant will work collaboratively with an outstanding group of engineers and technologists located in Long Beach MS. The successful applicant will become part of a world class team that is a recognized leader in maritime systems development and will support production of advanced electronic systems for the Department of Defense.

As a Manufacturing Engineer, you possess a relentless appetite for setting in motion and steadily optimizing a broad and complete set of lean enterprise methodologies beyond the expectations of a typical world-class organization. You are a key member of a team who will champion the transformation, sustainment, and continuous improvement of all systems affecting the manufacturing cycle (including the supply chain) for both new and existing products. Your primary job responsibilities include:

Provides manufacturing support for complex, high-reliability ocean hardware/software systems within an ISO 90001 environment. Satisfies customer requirements with innovative, cost-effective, reliable solutions that appropriately leverage advanced technologies and are suitable for production in support of a Navy Program.

Ensuring an orderly workplace through a formal 6S program, including visual cues to achieve more consistent operational results.

Identifying value and performing Value Stream Mapping (VSM) to understand the sequence of activities and information necessary to produce products to identify and eliminate waste in the value stream.

Calculating takt times and creating cycle time bar charts along value streams as a data driven process, while recognizing reduced cycle time as the primary lean objective.

Achieving continuous one-piece flow within value streams, with particular emphasis on eliminating the wasteful traditional processes.

Leading a formal Kaizen initiative while implementing the Plan-Do-Check-Act-Cycle (PDCA) process and ensuring total employee involvement.

Coordinate with Engineering and Material Review Board (MRB) to make associated changes to the Engineering Bill of Materials (EBOM)

Create and maintain the Manufacturing Bill of Material (MBOM) and As-Built Configuration Bill of Materials

Interpret engineering drawings and specifications to develop manufacturing work instructions to clearly define the manufacturing processes for: fabrication, assembly, test, integration, and refurbishment.

Troubleshooting and dispositioning of hardware anomalies

Closely manage quality, assembly sequence, and schedule of hardware throughout the entire manufacturing process.

Perform engineering drawing review and provide final approval for manufacturing.

Assist with manufacturing estimations for assembly time on Proposals: Level of Effort for either a single component bid (Small Proposal) or multiple component bid (Large Proposals).

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor's of Science in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial/Systems, or Aerospace Engineering and 4 - 8 years of prior relevant experience or Masters with 2 - 6 years of prior relevant experience.
• Knowledge, training, and experience for most of the primary responsibilities defined
• A passion for lean enterprise
• A background in traditional manufacturing process tools including Costpoint and/or Solumina or other ERP and MES applications
• Requires in depth working knowledge of manufacturing engineering concepts and principles
• Proficient using Microsoft Vizio and Power Point
• Must have excellent written communication and visual presentation skills, and the ability to analyze, evaluate and develop solutions to technical problems
• Ability to work productively and cooperatively within a concurrent engineering environment
• Background in ISO 9001 Standard
• Must possess an active SECRET Security clearance or the ability to get a clearance

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Windchill PLM system
• Experience with Deltek Costpoint ERP system
• Experience with Solumina MES
• Past participation in a Lean Transformation initiative
• Mastery of all the primary responsibilities defined
• Background in AS 9100 Standard
• Proficiency in all MS Office applications
• Proficiency in Power BI
• Six Sigma Certification
• Lean Certification
• Manufacturing experience in Electrical and/or Mechanical Fabrication

Pay Range: Pay Range $66,300.00 - $119,850.00
