We are designing a completely new electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft tailored to the mobility needs of future cities. This allows passengers a seamless intermodal journey that safely transports them to their final destination. We fuse research in autonomy, robotics, aviation and services to define a new category of mobility for the world's communities. We believe in creative thinking and collaboration to help build a better mobility experience for everyone, improving people's ability to move - whether for work or play.
What we do:
The Sr. Materials & Process Engineer applies their technical knowledge and expertise broadly to support electrical systems, components, and EWIS (Electrical Wiring Interconnect Systems) across all Supernal systems (electric motors, high voltage system, energy storage system, avionics, communication & control systems). This role works toward developing & implementing conventional and novel materials and process solutions as needed and work with our partners to ensure delivered hardware meets requirements & leads to the certification & production of new AAM vehicles and other advanced mobility solutions.
This position will be required to work on-site 5 days a week.
What you can do:
Contribute to building requirements & standard methodologies for electronic systems, components, & EWIS (Electrical Wiring Interconnect Systems) and against all powertrain, avionics, energy storage, and flight controls related hardware & systems across the vehicle as they relate to M&P
Lead all aspects of evaluation and selection of materials to satisfy design requirements focusing on polymers, adhesives, thermal interface materials, ceramics, metallics and insulation materials pertaining to electrical systems
Build internal material specifications and develop process specifications that support manufacturing & ensure quality
Lead & coordinate testing for method development, materials characterization, allowable generation, design validation, & hardware certification
Lead flammability & fire testing for electronic systems as required
Serve as the M&P representative (Signatory Authority) during design reviews & in the production drawing release cycle for EWIS and electronic systems components and assemblies
Assist with supplier selection, development, qualifications, and ongoing evaluations and improvements
Build procedures for reviewing supplier delivered (source controlled) hardware for compliance with requirements
Dedication to awareness of technology developments across academia and industry as well as regulatory trends through participation in industry working groups, standards bodies, and relevant technical conferences and symposia
May require up to 25% of domestic and international travel
Other duties as assigned
What you can contribute:
Bachelor's degree in a STEM or related field required
Minimum of five (5) years of related experience (an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered)
Experience in material selection and generation of qualification test plans
