PRINCIPAL CIVIL STRUCTRUAL engineer Roles and Responsibilities:

We are seeking a PRINCIPAL CIVIL STRUCTRUAL ENGINEER within our GEMTE department team located at our Houston TX location. This position requires _15 % domestic / global travel.
We are seeking a talented Principal Civil Structural Engineer with experience in leading large scale and complex projects covering a wide range and sizes of industrial type applications; Air Separation Units (ASU), Hydrogen Processing Units, Process Gases & Gasification Units, LNG facilities, and Technology improvements. We provide support and liaison to global manufacturing facilities and construction sites.
The role of this position is a key leadership role and being responsible for the daily coordination and oversight of a 3rd party EP team during the FEED or conceptual phase of a project. The roles and responsibilities will also include oversight of deliverables created by the Air Products Detailed Engineering & Design (DED) execution centers located in the AP India Pune and Vadodara offices as well as Local Design Institutes (LDIs) in China. Travel to India and China is required.
Typical process related structures include pipe rack modules, stacked process equipment modules, pipe support & tray systems, equipment supports, and access platform areas.
Foundation designs will include interpretation of geotechnical recommendations for design of deep and shallow foundation systems, piling types, pile caps, soil-supported mats, containment systems, rotating machinery, and compressors. Dynamic analysis for compressor foundations is a plus.

Required Skills / Abilities:

Review and develop project scope and execution strategies, including developing multicenter execution strategies involving other Air Products regions and offices.
Ensure adherence to basis of design, design criteria, and design concepts.
Ensure adherence to contract specification, standards, and other contract documents.
Ensure adherence to deliverable list(s).
Manage Schedule of Deliverable checkpoints
Develop and manage Score Card Checking Management.
Perform Progress assessment / metrics.
Apply Management of Change
Perform Checking and Approval process.
Documentation control and record retention
Review of Detailed Design deliverables produced in our Indian Engineering & Design Center. Work with India DED center personnel in India to align on deliverables, deliverables quality and content, and timing of issuance. Alignment will include providing specific guidance, go-bys, and prescriptive instructions. Routine travel to India offices in Pune and Vadodara will be required.
Review conformance of deliverables with project specifications, standards, and contract documents.
PE stamping of deliverables.
EPC Oversight: Assist to create & implement oversight strategies of EPC scope execution and deliverables.
Attend project & group meetings.
Can interface efficiently with other disciplines and Project Engineering Management

Education and Licensing Requirements:

Bachelors or masters degree in civil or Structural Engineering.
PE licensed engineer:
10+ years of engineering with concrete design, site drainage, site development, structural steel, and modularization.
3+ years as a Lead Engineer or Team Lead
Proven leadership work experience from an EPC and EPCM company.
Must be able to demonstrate leadership experience and skills including interfacing with global teams.
Experience in Refinery / Petrochemical, Oil & Gas, or power industry.
Experience in large scale modularization concepts, design, transportation, and installation.
Experience in building concepts and layouts for site built and modular buildings of various sizes and services. Blast resistant design of buildings a plus.
Proficient in using structural analysis modeling software such as RISA or STAAD.
Proficient of industry accepted codes; IBC, ASCE 7, AISC Steel Construction Manual, AISC 341, AWS, ACI 318, and CBC.
Working knowledge of Smart 3D (S3D) software tool.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Multi-office project experience, including international/domestic project customers/locations.
Takes personal responsibility for safety and a healthy environment on the projects and in the office.
