Job Details

Position Summary:
Plans and designs manufacturing processes for the production facility. Researches root cause of failures and develops test methods to improve product quality and reliability. Supports new product introduction and improves cost efficiency on existing designs. Determines the parts, equipment, tools, and process needed to meet engineering specifications and manufacturing goals.

Essential Functions:
Responsible for designing and planning manufacturing layout and process for maximum efficiency of space, cost, and resource utilization.
Analyzes assembly, fabrication, and machining processes, and designs, builds, installs, purchases, and troubleshoots manufacturing equipment, fixtures, material, or parts.
Reviews product designs for manufacturability or completeness and acts as liaison to Engineering regarding capabilities and potential design changes.
Designs test methods and tests finished products or process capabilities to establish standards or validate process requirements. Evaluates manufactured products according to specifications and quality standards.
Determines root causes of failures using statistical methods and recommend changes in designs, tolerances, or processing methods.
Uses continuous improvement methods to improve production process, quality, reliability, or cost efficiency through knowledge of fabrication processes, tooling and production equipment, assembly methods, quality control standards, or product design, materials, and parts.
Performs time and cost analysis of processes alongside sustainability and environmental issues regarding emissions, pollution, energy or scrap waste.
Supports products new to manufacturing by preparing documentation for processes or procedures and by evaluating costs, production times, or resource requirements for new designs.
Regularly reports on manufacturing performance trends to management.
Provides technical expertise to company personnel regarding manufacturing capabilities and processes.
Mentors production personnel in new or existing methods.
