We are seeking a highly skilled Vision Engineer to join our dynamic team in the rapidly growing field of electric vehicle (EV) battery manufacturing. The successful candidate will be instrumental in developing and implementing cutting-edge computer vision solutions to enhance the efficiency, quality, and safety of our electric vehicle battery production processes.
Responsibilities
Vision Algorithm Comprehension:
- Implement and maintain computer vision algorithms for quality control, defect detection, and process optimization in electric vehicle battery manufacturing.
- Comprehend algorithms for the inspection of critical components, such as battery cells, modules, and packs.
Integration with Manufacturing Systems:
- Collaborate with manufacturing and automation teams to seamlessly integrate vision solutions into the electric vehicle battery production line.
- Ensure compatibility with existing manufacturing control systems and Industry standards.
Defect Detection and Classification:
- Manage vision systems for the identification and classification of defects in battery components throughout the manufacturing process
- Monitor real-time defect detection to avoid manufacturing defects and enhance overall product quality.
Process Optimization:
- Utilize computer vision to optimize manufacturing processes, including material handling, assembly, and quality assurance.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing production efficiency and reducing waste.
Data Analysis and Reporting:
- Analyze data collected by vision systems to provide actionable insights into manufacturing performance.
- Generate regular reports and recommendations for process optimization and quality enhancement.
Collaboration:
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including manufacturing, maintenance, process technology, and quality.
- Work closely with suppliers to maintain and improve vision systems.
Validation and Testing:
- Develop and execute comprehensive testing procedures to validate the accuracy and reliability of vision systems in a manufacturing environment.
- Ensure that vision systems comply with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field
Experience:
- Experience in developing and implementing computer vision solutions for manufacturing applications, preferably in the electric vehicle battery industry.
Required Skills:
- Proficiency in programming languages such as MFC, C++, or others.
- Strong knowledge of computer vision libraries and frameworks (e.g., OpenCV)
- Familiarity with image processing techniques and machine learning for vision applications.
- Working understanding of vision systems (such as Keyence or Cognex) and/or X-ray system for inspection
- Excellent communication skills to effectively convey technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Complete proficiency in the Microsoft office tool suite
Preferred Skills:
- Proficient in application of statistical knowledge and tools such as Spotfire, Minitab or JMP
- Knowledge on structured problem solving methods
- Experience with PLC programing (Mitsubishi preferred)
- Experience in spare parts management and control
- Process knowledge related to Lithium battery manufacturing
Working Conditions & Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to travel as requested (Domestic and International)
- Must be eligible to work in the United States
- Must be available to work occasional overtime on weekends or holidays
- Ability to sit, stand, or walk for long periods
- Ability to gown and wear appropriate PPE in dry room conditions on the manufacturing floor
