POSITION DETAILS

Position Summary

The Sr. Project Engineer supports the design effort of motors and electro-mechanical actuation devices under Sr. Engineering Manager.

This position requires interactions with other engineering associates, suppliers, and applicable departmental assignees (production, sales, quality, program management, etc.) in Concurrent Engineering environment to develop producible and economical design solutions.

Hands-on participation in the test laboratory and related design validation, prototype development, as well as product preparation activities.

Principal Activities
  • Responsible for coordination, communication and completion of all Engineering activities under the scope of NPI Projects assigned.
  • Responsible for ensuring timelines are met.
  • Reviews tolerance stack-ups with temperature effects, fits and clearances, and stress, strain and flow calculations as required.
  • Reviews bearing selection, bearing life calculations, bearing clearances/fits with temperature effects.
  • Coordinates analytical and/or experimental testing as necessary to demonstrate soundness of the design.
  • Engineering focal in New Product Introduction Team to ensure designs are efficient in performance, manufacture, cost and inspection.
  • Drives relevant documentation within the Engineering department for change management, procurement, fabrication and testing.
  • Generates applicable test and assembly procedures and reports for design verification and manufacturing.
  • Initiates requests and supports fabrication of prototypes and order special materials when required, as well as any fixtures and tooling needed.
  • Escalates all issues and risks to Engineering Leadership in timely manner.
  • Supports customer motor RFQs, specifications, preliminary design concepts and technical proposals for new business opportunities.


CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Experience:
  • Mastery of Project Management skills.
  • Experience with adhering to project timelines, and managing diverse
  • Experience using SolidWorks (highly preferred), MathCAD, Simulink, ANSYS, SPEED, Flux 2D/3D or Equivalent Engineering Software Tools.
  • GD&T per ASME Y14.5.
  • Proficient communication skills.
  • Experience with Motor packaging and Design for Manufacturing.
  • Familiarity with winding processes and efficiencies.
  • Familiarity with motor production testing and testing equipment.
  • PCB layout experience preferred.
  • Stress Analysis - Linear
    FEA experience is a plus.
  • Experience with Fastening Methods, Torque Design, Material Selection, Bearing system design and analysis, Lubrication and Motor balancing.
  • Experience with Technical Writing.
  • Familiarity with RTCA DO-160 & MIL-STD-810G
  • Experience working in AS9100 QMS environment, or similar such as ISO 9001.
  • Familiarity with DFMEA, VAVE, DFM, DVP&R, CM and Risk Assessment.

Education
  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering relevant subject, and 10(+) years of experience.

PAY RANGE: $109K - $139K annually
Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
