Senior/Principal Scientist- The Signal Processing COE is Looking for You
Halliburton invites qualified candidates to apply for an R&D Scientist role with the Signal Processing Center of Excellence (COE) in Houston. Our goal is to continuously grow the group's core research expertise in the areas of signal and imaging processing, telemetry, modeling and inversion, high-performance computing, and AI-assisted data analytics to maximize the efficiency and values of the data and to ensure the long-term success of Halliburton.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct research and development on acoustic logging tools for well integrity evaluation, reservoir monitoring, or formation evaluation.
  • Development of acoustic array processing algorithms.
  • Numerical modeling of transducer responses and wave propagations in a borehole environment.
  • Development of software/packages for acoustic signal processing and borehole acoustic simulations, including related multi-physics.
  • Development of AI/machine learning applications and products on acoustic downhole logs.
  • Collaborating with team members and providing necessary support for technology transfer.
  • Publishing results in patent applications, technical journals, and conferences.

Required Education and Skills
  • A Ph.D. (or equivalent qualification) in Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, Geophysics, or related background preferred.
  • Skills typically acquired through the completion of an undergraduate degree in Science, Engineering or similar discipline.
  • 4+ years of experience as an academic or industrial technical contributor with established records.
  • Demonstrated experience or knowledge in acoustics or geophysical signal processing (seismic, distributed fiber sensing, ground penetrating radar, remote sensing).
  • Previous experience with the development of acoustic surveying/downhole logging tools and technology is highly desirable.
  • Possess skills in numerical analysis and coding in Matlab and Python. Experience with C/C++ is highly preferred.
  • Experience in high-performance computing (CPU and GPU parallelization) is a plus.
  • Demonstrated ability to conceive of and develop creative/innovative technology.
  • Demonstrated teamwork, strong communication skills, and collaboration in complex projects.
