Job Description
AECOM has a position available for an Underground Electrical Distribution Engineer to support our Energy practice Engineering Center of Excellence across our transmission and distribution projects including a multi-year strategic undergrounding program. For this role, AECOM offers the freedom and flexibility to work remotely and/or be located at a variety of Energy offices located in multiple locations across the United States.
Our team provides a wide range of electrical engineering services across markets sectors including transmission (substations, OH/UG transmission systems, generator interconnections, interconnection strategy), power distribution (OH/UG power systems, substations, EV charging networks, microgrid design, etc.), renewables (Solar PV, Battery Energy Storage Systems, Wind), and next generation energy (hydrogen, fuel cells, RNG, etc.). We are looking for an up-and-coming leader with an electrical engineering background to promote our skills to new clients and maintain our existing client base.
The successful candidate should be a dynamic, self-directed individual with an excellent understanding of medium voltage underground utility distribution design and construction.
The responsibilities of this role also include, but may not be limited to, the following:
Develop and prepare distribution packages for underground infrastructure projects
Apply strong knowledge of utility standards, guides, specifications, and procedures specific to working in California
Contribute to design development, design risk and mitigation and value engineering
Attend design team meetings as appropriate.
Obtain design information from sub-consultants and equipment suppliers.
Liaise with CAD drafters, engineering lead and other staff for production of drawings
Produce detailed design information including calculations and draft design drawings.
Produce technical reports and technical specification.
At AECOM, we're delivering a better world.
We believe infrastructure creates opportunity for everyone. Whether it's improving your commute, keeping the lights on, providing access to clean water or transforming skylines, our work helps people and communities thrive.
Our clients trust us to bring together the best people, ideas, technical expertise and digital solutions to our work in transportation, buildings, water, the environment and new energy. We're one global team - 47,000 strong - driven by a common purpose to deliver a better world.
DCS-Energy
AECOM's Energy practice provides a wide range of services from consulting and engineering design to energy engineering, energy procurement and construction (EPC) for power, energy efficiency, and renewable energy clients. Our understanding of the big picture - and the interconnection between generation, distribution, storage, and the demand side of the meter - allows us to deliver holistic strategies that improve and modernize next generation energy infrastructure. We connect knowledge and experience across our global framework to bring together a unique combination of engineers, planners, scientists, and project managers who advance cleaner, secure, and more sustainable energy solutions.
