Job Description Summary In the GE Aviation System's ATO (Advanced Technology Organization), the candidate will lead electronics hardware development activities for complex power distribution and conversion products across a range of programs. The successful candidate will apply their power electronics experience and expertise to understand product requirements and provide robust engineering solutions, in alignment with business objectives, to delight the customer.
At GE Aviation in Dayton, OH the EPISCenter is the headquarters for all of Aviation Power Engineering. At this facility you have an opportunity to put your engineering training and skills to use. Our Engineers are focused and challenged on developing new technologies and delivering state of the art products such as Hybrid Electric aircraft, the latest military platforms, and SiC technology to name a few. Plus, if you like hands-on work, there is also a 155,000 sq ft lab that includes 6 high power test cells totaling 15 MW, an EMI chamber, an electronics lab, a rapid build prototype lab, and a real time simulator lab with all the latest equipment.

Job Description
Roles and Responsibilities
- Define aircraft power distribution component requirements, and work with the Customer to capture and understand the correct and complete requirement set.
- Define and formalize system, test, hardware, software, and human integration requirements.
- Apply solid engineering principles to power electronics design, analysis, and verification activities, compliant to robust product requirements and relevant business practices.
- Provide technical leadership to ensure that power electronics activities remain on track - by identifying, communicating, and resolving significant issues or developments, in collaboration with technical and project leaders.
- Contribute to detailed technical documentation consistent with engineering policies and procedures, leading and influencing project and customer reviews as required.
- Remain current in knowledge of power distribution and switching technologies.
- Collaborate effectively in a diverse, global, distributed work environment.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university or college with a minimum of 3 years of experience within an engineering role
OR
- Master's degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university or college with a minimum of 1 year of professional experience or academic related co-op or internship experience
- This role requires use of technical data subject to U.S. Government contract restrictions and this posting is only for U.S. Citizens. GE will require proof of status.
Desirable Characteristics
- Relevant Engineering Degree, with full lifecycle domain expertise
- Significant experience of power electronics design for AC & DC power distribution
- Strong influencing, problem solving and solution building skills - including at a customer level.
- Ability to clearly communicate complex design concepts - both orally and written - and make decisions based on sound judgement.
- Demonstrable technical leadership ability in a multi-disciplined environment, along with strong interpersonal skills
- Experience in power electronics design for aviation, automotive or similar safety critical applications.
- Familiarity with engineering tools including Altium, DOORS, Windchill.
- Experience of coaching and mentoring.
