We are looking for an Energy Engineer that identifies project opportunities by conducting feasibility assessments in all market verticals. Leads preliminary and detailed facility audit project teams on complex projects to identify and develop facility improvement measure (FIM) project opportunities.

  • Coordinate and lead facility site visits with clients and communicate with vendors for project development
  • Lead technical aspects of performance contracting proposal development, including energy benchmarks and cost estimates
  • Determine existing facility MEP system design and control concepts
  • Benchmark facility utility use and costs compared to standards
  • Identify opportunities to renovate systems for improved efficiency and reduced operating costs
  • Calculate energy and cost savings using applicable software tools
  • Create detailed scopes of work for improvement opportunities and coordinate with estimators and subcontractors
  • Manage project development schedule, on-site activities, and coordinate deliverables
  • Evaluate Energy Star and LEED project opportunities
  • Work collaboratively with a team including managers, sales, estimating, design, construction, and service personnel
  • Direct design requirements with outside engineering and architectural personnel
  • Propose energy savings measures using renewable resources
  • Review project completion per design documents and contracts, perform measurement and verification
  • Regular regional travel throughout Western, Central, and Upstate, NY to conduct in-person assessments, including climbing ladders and inspecting crawl spaces
  • 3 years construction industry experience, field inspection experience, understanding of energy efficiency concepts, HVAC systems, and renewable energy systems.
  • Knowledge in thermo and fluid dynamics, psychometrics, heating and cooling load calculations, communication skills
  • Experience in the energy performance industry
  • Ability to work flexible hours
Nice to haves:
  • BS/BA in related discipline
  • Experience working for an ESCO
  • Certified Energy Manager (CEM) certification preferred but not required
  • Project Management experience
  • Electrical or mechanical engineering experience
  • Experience with solar power generation
