Position Summary
The NPI (New Product Introduction) Project Manager will be responsible for the successful initiation, planning, execution, monitoring, controlling and closure of multiple New Product Introduction projects into production. The candidate must have significant experience with new product introduction project management through a combination of leadership and skills, including the ability to direct and coordinate activities related to various disciplines.
The NPI Project Manager will ensure effective project management related to processes, scheduling, cost, resources deployment, risk assessment/containment and implementation of project change management from an Operations perspective.
Key focus of the NPI Project Manager will include supplier sourcing / selection, early supplier engagement, implementation of new technologies, manufacturing readiness, Design for Manufacturability (DFM)
Principal Activities and Responsibilities
  • Lead project management of multiple new product introduction programs.
  • Responsible for integrated project schedules throughout the project life cycle, change management, implementation of corrective actions, and manufacturing readiness.
  • Contributor to establishing the cost basis, evaluating resource requirements, and performing risk analysis.
  • Supplier Sourcing / selection, engaging suppliers early in the NPD cycle to facilitate design for manufacturing (DFM).
  • Facilitate regular team project status reviews for individual projects. Refocus teams as necessary to ensure project requirements are met.
  • Participate in project gate reviews in line with project timing and internal NPD/NPI process requirements with a focus on Operations deliverables.
  • Organizes and leads projects by defining and identifying required expertise; oversees and approves task planning to include resource requirements and effort estimates related to project performance. Establishes and communicates overall priorities and changing program requirements to functional areas.
  • Ensures all deliverables are met for manufacturing readiness, including BOMs, routings, tooling, capital equipment, assembly and test procedures, supplier selection, outside processing SOWs, and materials.
  • Implementation of corrective actions covering all areas of project responsibility. Addresses critical issues on complex projects and leads the team to develop action plans to improve performance.
  • Ensures meeting actions are documented, communicated and closed by the assignee in the timeframe required. Provides weekly written status to leadership.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Experience: Demonstrated ability to perform the essential functions of the job typically acquired through ten or more years of related work experience; including five or more years leading multiple projects/programs of varying complexity and scope and direct leadership of teams. Prior knowledge of cross functional teams required.

  • Proficient in the use of business applications software (MS Office) and the ability to use specialized project management (MS Project) applications.

  • Understanding of Requirements Management, including change configuration management, traceability, validation and verification and scope management

  • Open to change and strives for continuous improvement.
  • Bachelor's degree (BS/BA) in Engineering, Sciences, Business, Supply Chain, or a related field preferred; minimum of 10 years prior program or significant project management experience, along with vendor sourcing. PMP certification is a plus.
