This is an opportunity to join the fast-paced world of engineering the next generation manned and unmanned combat vehicles and watercraft systems for the U.S. Army and Marine Corp. Working as a DCS employee in Littleton, Massachusetts, you will assist in the development mechanical hardware for military ground vehicle and marine applications. This is a full time paid summer internship position.
Essential Job Functions:
Under supervision of senior mechanical engineer:
Design and model in 3-D mechanical hardware pieces and assemblies for ground vehicle system/subsystems.
Create fabrication drawings.
Create Bill of Materials.
Assist with the fabrication process from generating request for pricing quotations, overseeing fabrication, and verifying design compliance, verifying parts fit, and work with electrical and electronics engineers, systems engineers, software engineers and others during the development process. Support senior engineers with configuration management tasks.
Required Skills:
Due to the sensitivity of customer related requirements, U.S. Citizenship is required.
Junior or Senior year candidate for bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering.
Strong grasp of engineering fundamentals (mechanical and electrical).
Basic proficiency using 3-D CAD program.
Knowledge of engineering drawings and formats.
Course work in mechanical engineering analyses: basic structural, thermal analysis.
Proficient use of computers and Microsoft Office tools: Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Effective verbal and written communication skills.
Desired Skills:
Experience with PTC Creo a big plus.
Proficiency with AutoCAD.
