Our client, a leading automotive and energy company, is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to join their innovative R&D Test Systems Engineering (TSE) team. As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will play a crucial role in designing and implementing cutting-edge test solutions that drive the development of next-generation vehicle and energy programs. Location: Sunnyvale, California

Pay: $55-60/h + BENEFITS

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the design and integration of engineered test solutions for both vehicle and energy systems, applying your expertise in electromechanics, design for manufacturability/assembly, and reliability.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to develop product requirements and drive agile concept development, utilizing CAD software (preferably CATIA V5) for 3D modeling and 2D drafting.
  • Manage projects from inception to delivery, ensuring systems are developed and commissioned within tight and high-pressure deadlines.
  • Conduct mechanical analysis (dynamic, structural, thermal, fluid) and oversee proper selection of equipment/instruments to optimize system performance.
  • Document entire projects comprehensively, including component drawings, assembly instructions, bills of materials, and analysis reports. Collaborate using Jira and Confluence for effective task tracking and communication.

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (MSME preferred) with a strong background in rotating machinery design, EV powertrain design, or related mechanical engineering fields.
  • Demonstrated experience (3+ years) in developing complex systems from concept to delivery, particularly in the realm of large electro-mechanical, rotating, and/or test systems.
  • Proficiency in 3D modeling and 2D drafting, with a preference for CATIA V5 expertise.
  • Exceptional understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) and its practical application.
  • Proven project management skills, with a track record of managing multiple projects successfully under high-pressure, time-sensitive situations.
  • Strong written, oral, interpersonal, and presentation skills, enabling effective collaboration and communication within cross-functional teams.
  • Self-driven and motivated, capable of making responsible decisions independently while contributing positively to team dynamics.
  • Hands-on experience with assembly methods and best practices, with a solid grasp of manufacturing techniques including machining, sheet metal forming, and 3D printing.
  • Familiarity with rotating systems, encompassing rotor dynamics, bearings, seals, and lubrication.
  • Basic understanding of high voltage and electrical principles to support integration within test systems.
