To help us achieve this, we are seeking a Social Media Editor to develop and execute growth and engagement strategies across the AJC's various social media platforms, leading a team of social media content producers and programming producers.
This position will lead efforts to test, measure and iterate on a variety of strategies to build audience and increase engagement, with a strong emphasis on results and metrics-driven decision making.

This position will lead efforts to test, measure and iterate on a variety of strategies to build audience and increase engagement, with a strong emphasis on results and metrics-driven decision making.
In this position you will:
- Own the strategy for distribution and formatting of AJC's content across social media channels and platforms with the goal of increasing site visits
- Analyze traffic and trends to identify opportunities to improve distribution, approach, or presence on social platforms
- Monitor and stay up to date on external competitive developments and best practices to ensure AJC remains competitive and present on relevant platforms that audiences are adopting
- Partner across AJC's organization to influence and inform editorial, content, and other activities on social media to ensure best practices are employed and are aligned to what works for the AJC identity and audience
- Manage an enthusiastic team of digital producers with the goal of showcasing our highest-value content and growing audience visits to all of our products
- Work with editors and newsroom leaders to plan content and presentation
- Work with digital leaders to develop strategy for growing the top of funnel for our subscriptions
- Work with digital producers, editors and writers on innovative packages and new ways of storytelling on external platforms
- Test and develop strategies to promote the overall growth and engagement on our platforms
- Partner with Growth Marketing on aligning editorial and organic strategies with any paid campaigns
- Develop and execute AJC strategy around social monitoring
Qualifications:
What we expect you to have to be ready:
- Bachelor's degree preferably in journalism, product development, or related field
- Strong preference for at least 3 years of experience as a team lead, coach, or manager of people in a fast-paced operational role
- With a Bachelor's degree must have at least six (6) years of experience
May have a Master's degree with at least four (4) years of experience or Ph.D with at least 1 year of experience or must have at least 10 years of total experience in relevant fields.
With any degree and/or experience, must have at least 1 year of experience in a management or lead role - Experience in social media as a vehicle to drive traffic, increase reader engagement and build brand
- Knowledge on the most recent trends in digital news media and social media
- Ability to nurture talent and identify key hires to accomplish company goals
- An ability to take and give constructive criticism
- Passion and belief in local, regional and statewide journalism and its role as a societal change agent
- Familiarity and experience in using audience metrics to drive tactical as well as strategic decisions on content production and resource allocation
- Understanding of journalism standards and media ethics
- Reliable automobile transportation required.
- Reliable internet service for remote work environment required.
- Ability to work weekend and unusual hours as dictated by news events
