Job Description

Under limited supervision, provides support for engineering research activities, engineering development activities, and/or support of manufacturing activities.

For these activities, the Senior Engineering Technician provides an advanced level of technical assistance with the design, development, construction, and testing of developmental prototype products, transition of pilot products to manufacturing, general electro/mechanical activities, test systems documentation, design, development and execution.

The Senior Engineering Technician works closely with members of an engineering project team, accepts minimal direction and instructions, works with project team members or manufacturing on engineering change orders, and acting as a lead technician on an engineering project may coordinate, review and analyze the activities of a lesser technician.


Responsible for carrying out specific technical assignments in order to solve a variety of manufacturing and assembly problems involved in the design and development of products, equipment, or processes (including tooling selection to aid in manufacturing/assembly).

Troubleshooting and integrating Elbit designs/assemblies onto land combat vehicles - this includes running fuel lines, routing cables, fabricating mounting brackets during prototypes, exhaust systems, radio/communication equipment, electrical power systems, hydraulic pumps/lines, etc.

Provide complex technical assistance in the design, development, testing and modification of engineering prototypes.

Review designs and specifications for completeness, accuracy, compliance with specifications, and producibility (design for manufacturing).

Direct activities and provide technical direction to less senior technicians in building, testing and troubleshooting equipment. Train electromechanical technicians to assembly procedures.

Research new materials, fabrication processes, equipment, and computer software needed to create or analysis machines.

Assist manufacturing in transition from development into production.

Prepare and review engineering specifications and procedures.

Conduct field testing and research work for new or existing applications.

Troubleshooting customer application problems.

Works independently and closely with electrical, mechanical, software and systems engineering to troubleshoot systems, parts tracking and ordering, modifying, manipulating and configuring test setups that supports engineering prototypes.

Help conduct experiments to evaluate operating characteristics of products or processes. Assist in the planning, testing and evaluation of laboratory equipment, new and existing materials and techniques.

Exercise specialized technical judgment in the substitution of parts and materials. Evaluate and select optimum alternatives.

Develop or improve techniques to meet quality, function and cost standards.

Support, test, and help modify in the engineering of fixtures and jigs necessary for the assembly of components for various devices/instruments that are in prototype, production build and/or test.

May act as technical representative, traveling to customer sites and/or tradeshows to advise and instruct in the installation, operation, and maintenance of Company-produced products.

Support engineering and manufacturing for engineering change orders.
