Vehicle and Charging Integration Engineer 1 or 2* description image
The Transit Engineer 1 or 2 position includes a combination of project management and leadership responsibilities for short-term and long-term projects as well as day to day operational technical support.   This employee will monitor and direct activities of consultants, contractors, and manufacturers while managing activities of their own projects, planning and design functions. This employee will also provide real time data and reports as requested by Metro Transit Management. This position reports to the Transit Chief Maintenance Officer. 
 
The successful candidate will be hired as a Transit Engineer 1 or 2 level based on qualifications, and the level will be determined at the time of hire. Starting salary for the Transit Engineer 1 is $79,433.64. Starting salary for the Transit Engineer 2 is $86,834.28. 

Progression to a Transit Engineer 2 is not automatic but is dependent upon the employee taking on additional duties and responsibilities, as well as the independent application of professional judgment.   Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical, electrical or other related engineering field
  • Three (3) years of experience with vehicle design or manufacturing, high-voltage electrical systems or charging systems, advanced vehicle technology systems, or related field
  • One (1) year of which needs to include project management and computer experience related to the duties

OR

  • Associate's degree in automotive technology, engineering technology or related field
  • Five (5) years of experience with vehicle design or manufacturing, high-voltage electrical systems or charging systems, advanced vehicle technology systems, or related field
  • One (1) year of which needs to include project management and computer experience related to the duties

OR 

  • Seven (7) years of experience with vehicle design or manufacturing, high-voltage electrical systems or charging systems, advanced vehicle technology systems, or related field
  • One (1) year of which needs to include project task management and computer experience related to the duties
