Huntington Ingalls Industries is hiring a talented, motivated Technical Editor & Writer to review & edit technical documents that are published on government websites, author a security classification guide and coordinate its routing up to an original classification authority at higher headquarters, edit formal interoffice correspondence and external requests for information, and author/edit internal procedures and directives. The position is in San Antonio, Texas on Lackland Air Force Base. Essential Job Responsibilities Writes, rewrites and/or edits technical documents such as technical procedure manuals, user manuals, programming manuals, service manuals, operational specifications, and related technical publications to communicate clearly and effectively technical specifications and instructions to a wide range of audiences
Acquires subject knowledge by interviewing product developers, observing performance of production methods, referring to technical specifications, blueprints, engineering illustrations, and trade journals
Oversees preparation of illustrative materials, selecting drawings, sketches, diagrams and charts; conducts quality review of materials
Author and edit documents for internal and external distribution
Draft directives for executive signature
Edit documents for publication on government websites
Draft and coordinate the routing of a security classification guide
Minimum Qualifications 6 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 4 years relevant experience with Masters in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 10 years relevant experience.
Proficiency in using PCs and Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel
Must have a Top Secret/SCI clearance
Preferred Requirements Experience in drafting and staffing security classification guides
Experience in properly marking classified materials
Basic knowledge of electromagnetic warfare
