Summary Mission Technologies, a Division of HII, has a need for a Systems Engineer, Principal Technical Specialist located in Huntsville, Alabama. The selected candidate will work directly with Program Managers and the Huntsville site-lead to ensure proper technical execution and delivery for current and future programs. The position will entail interfacing with current and potential government customers, and providing thought leadership and expertise. Essential Job Responsibilities design, develop, evaluate, and modify end-to-end systems and systems-oriented products through their entire life cycle.
Generates quantifiable requirements based on customer description, system planning and design, and acquisition logistics. Ensure requirements comply with client requirements and government standards through formal verification methods.
Translate high-level product development strategies into system requirement specifications and work with other engineering disciplines to develop lower-level detailed implementation requirements.
Establish and coordinate development of standards, practices, and procedures as related to the overall product development.
Design interfaces and bring system elements together, so they work as a whole.
Assess performance using evaluation criteria and technical performance measures.
Participate in system conceptual design and documentation of the design concepts.
Translate high-level product development strategies into system requirement specifications and work with multi-discipline engineering teams to develop lower-level detailed requirements.
Participate in design reviews of components (hardware and software) to ensure applicability to the current system and traceability of requirements through compliance verification and validation.
Generate system-level requirements verification procedures and customer acceptance test procedures.
Review test plans/procedures and ensure they meet the objectives of the contractual requirements and participates in the testing process to validate requirements.
Minimum Qualifications 12 years relevant experience with Bachelor's in related field or 10 years relevant experience with Master's in related field.
Full life-cycle experience with complex unmanned aviation systems from inception (requirements/concept development) through startup, execution, and completion (testing, sustainment and delivery to end user).
Multi-disciplined knowledge in areas related to engineering including systems design, hardware, integration, and test.
Technical review conduct including PMRs, SRRs, TRRs, PDRs, CDRs, Configuration Review Boards, and Failure Review Boards.
Clearance: An active SECRET security clearance required.
Preferred Requirements Experience working in a DoD acquisition project management office is a plus.
Physical Requirements Office, industrial, or shipboard environment. Capable of climbing ladders and tolerating confined spaces and extreme temperature variances. Lifting and moving materials may be required.
