Summary You will serve as a in the ENVIRONMENTAL ENGINEER (0819) OR PHYSICAL SCIENTIST (1301) in the ENVIRONMENTAL (EV) BUSINESS LINE of NAVAL FACILITIES ENG COMMAND ATLANTIC. Duties You will advise staff on environmental engineering principles and theories to ensure project objectives are met in accordance with criteria and standards. You will advise personnel on the proper interpretation or implementation of regulatory environmental requirements. You will brief management on the status and details of environmental issues related to compliance programs. You will analyze environmental regulations to resolve environmental compliance issues (e.g., pollution prevention, hazardous waste management, air emission control) during project execution. You will check equipment designs for compliance with applicable wastewater regulations. You will compose correspondence for regulatory violations, spills, and other correspondence to comply by Federal, State, and local government environmental regulations. Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service. You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal. You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases You will be required to complete ethics orientation within three months of appointment and submit a Confidential Financial Disclosure Report, OGE-450, within 30 days of appointment. This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time. Qualifications BASIC REQUIREMENT FOR THE ENVIRONMENTAL ENGINEER (SERIES 0819):A registered Professional Engineer in the District of Columbia, Guam, Puerto Rico, or any State in the U.S.
BASIC REQUIREMENT FOR A PHYSICAL SCIENTIST (SERIES 1301):
Have completed a full 4-year course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a Bachelor's Degree or higher degree in physical science, engineering, or mathematics that included 24 semester hours in physical science and/or related engineering science such as mechanics, dynamics, properties of materials, and electronics.
OR
Have a combination of education and experience-education equivalent to one of the majors shown above that included at least 24 semester hours in physical science and/or related engineering science, plus appropriate experience or additional education. In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector performing the following duties: 1) Acts as technical expert on Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA), Emergency Planning and Community Right to Know Act (EPCRA), Hazardous Materials Transportation Act (HMTA), Solid Waste Disposal Act (SWDA), OEBGD, FGS, OPNAV 5090, and related environmental programs; 2) Determines and analyzes project needs; 3) Manages, tracks and evaluates program and funding status; 4) Conducts site surveys world-wide and develops in house products/writes reports; 5) Provides project scopes of work and government cost estimates; 6) Prepares out year program planning and POM and PR exhibits; and 7) Provides technical assistance to more junior personnel
