The IAE mission is to provide agile, high value engineering products and services to enhance the performance, effectiveness, and capabilities of its customers to include the Department of Defense and other federal and industry partners. POSITION SUMMARY: The IAE is seeking a Senior Systems Automation Engineer to provide direct support to the United States Special Operations Command (USSOCOM). The duty location is Tampa, Florida. The USSOCOM Special Operation Forces (SOF) Acquisition Technology and Logistics (AT&L) organization requires a highly motivated engineer to fill a unique role as the Senior Systems Automation Engineer. They will advise organizational leadership on the technical aspects for a portfolio of complex collaborative autonomous systems. The Senior Systems Automation Engineer will be part of a multidisciplinary team designing, developing, testing, and fielding intelligent autonomous systems. They will have broad experience in cutting-edge technologies in designing and developing large distributed software intensive autonomous systems. They will guide the development of technical standards and provide organizational leadership for their adoption across programs to ensure platform interoperability for autonomous systems. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: This position requires a security clearance and a non-disclosure agreement. A Secret clearance is mandatory with the ability to obtain a Top-Secret clearance as required. RESPONSIBILITIES: The Senior Systems Automation Engineer is responsible for the design and development of collaborative autonomous systems and the development of technical standards and processes to ensure cross platform interoperability. Specific responsibilities include: Providing technical leadership at the intersection of software and hardware to design, build, test, and demonstrate new interoperable autonomy capabilities that address complex client problems.
Engaging key stakeholders to understand the system's functional and quality attribute requirements, use cases, and workflows for autonomous systems and collaborative autonomy.
Evaluate and assess systems architectures (hardware, software, networks) to analyze capabilities and identify gaps, problems, and issues impacting interoperability of autonomous systems.
Advise leadership on systems engineering processes, best practices, standards, and technologies to ensure proper function of autonomous systems and enable seamless interoperability and cooperation between systems and components.
Work with and coordinate multi-disciplinary engineering teams to design collaboratively autonomous systems spanning heterogeneous subsystems and platforms (hardware, software, and networks).
Document and evaluate complex systems of systems architectures and detailed system designs.
Plan and coordinate system test strategies to assess and verify the systems' fitness for purpose (functional operation, performance, operational effectiveness).
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS: MINIMUM:
This position requires a bachelor's degree in systems engineering, software engineering, electrical/computer engineering or a related field and at least six years of systems engineering experience. Specific qualifications include: Experience designing and developing software-intensive autonomous unmanned air, surface, or sea systems (UxS) to include the integration of electrical, computer, software, sensing, and mechanical subsystems.
Experience with computer hardware and operating systems internals to include: kernel level configuration, tuning, developing drivers, and applications.
Proficiency developing software applications in embedded, mobile, and enterprise domains using modern programming languages (e g. C/C++, Java, Python).
Experience integrating sensors into autonomous systems, collecting sensor data on board and distributing data for sensor fusion and analytic purposes.
Experience utilizing and integrating systems with military tactical networks, secure network infrastructure, and associated interfaces.
Experience with the integration of AI/ML algorithms, models, and software into distributed autonomous systems and infrastructure.
Experience with systems modelling and simulation to support analysis of operational scenarios to refine autonomous systems requirements, designs, and collaborative autonomy strategies.
Proficiency with drafting (e g. AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Fusion) and analytic simulation software (e g. MatLab, Ansys).
Experience leading multidisciplinary engineering teams through the full systems development lifecycle and coordinating the design and development efforts of electrical, computer, mechanical, software, and AI/ML engineering teams.
Excellent written and oral communication skills and able to communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
Must be eligible for a TS/SCI security clearance. PREFERRED:
An advanced degree in systems engineering, software engineering, electrical/computer engineering, or a related field and over six years of systems engineering experience. Preferred skills and experience include: Experience working within the Department of Defense ecosystem.
