The ideal candidate would have experience and interest in the areas of mixed signal, power analysis, amplifier designs and electromagnetic compliance of high-speed digital and analog board designs. The successful candidate will have the ability to function and effectively communicate in a dynamic integrated product team environment, supporting a variety of different programs.

Responsibilities & Tasks

Perform design activities as assigned by supervisor.

Produce reports and analyses.

Produce and maintain schematics, bills of material, and other required design documentation.

Design and run validation testing.

Perform initial turn-on and troubleshooting of new board designs and product prototypes, and design and document any required rework or other corrective actions.

Participate in design reviews.

Other related duties as assigned by supervisor.

Consult vendors on components and make final component selections

Work with external suppliers of PC layout, board assembly, and similar services

Investigate and select subassemblies for incorporation into designs

Will interface directly with Program Management and other relevant departments.

Core Responsibilities

Develop/modify specifications, schematics, assembly drawings, bill of materials, against which designs can be produced.

Assist senior engineers to develop system and sub-system performance specifications.

Responsible for carrying out specific project responsibilities as part of larger program objectives involved in the design and development of products, equipment, or processes.

Consults with higher level engineering personnel to resolve more complex design alternatives.

Utilize electronic design tools such as schematic capture. Review and implement design for manufacturing (DFM) and design for test (DFT) objective

Conduct experiments to evaluate operating characteristics of products or processes.

Conduct computer simulations to analyze, test or design products.

Lab Test Equipment: spectrum analyzers, vector network analyzers, signal generators, power supplies, power meters.

Assist with testing performance specs and troubleshooting activities.

Responsibly creates individual tasks and manages them to meet project plans, deadlines while maintaining liaison with other departments of the organization.

Utilize project planning and monitoring methods to ensure timely completion. Assumes responsibility for successful completion (Schedule, Performance, Cost) of systems and sub-systems.

Support the manufacturing process in resolving design problems where applicable.

Collaborate with purchasing in obtaining quotations or bids and assist with selection of vendors.

Establish failure rate or reliability predictions at component and circuit card levels

Contribute to process improvements.

Assist in locating replacements for obsolete electromechanical and electronic parts or develop new source for discontinued parts.

Prepare reports of field tests, start ups or installations as required and writes technical instructions.

With guidance from Senior Engineers, complete tasks such as schematic capture, PCB part placement, engage with PCB layout service providers, define PCB layout specifications, stack-up, trace clearances, trace widths, trace impedances and all other aspects of the board design.

Maintain/develop SI model library within the Mentor EDM environment. Build and maintain SI model library (.ibis models) within Mentor flow & ANSYS models.
