Where you'll work:
This fully remote opportunity allows you the flexibility to work from home in support of Epsilon's customer, the Western Area Power Administration (WAPA).

Our Customer's Mission:
The Western Area Power Administration (WAPA) is a federal agency under the United States Department of Energy (DOE) that manages and operates high-voltage electric transmission systems across 15 western states. WAPA's mission is to market and deliver reliable, cost-based, renewable power and transmission services to its customers, while also promoting energy efficiency and environmental sustainability. WAPA also manages and markets power from 56 federal hydroelectric power plants, which generate clean and renewable energy for 40 million customers.

Epsilon provides comprehensive and high-quality IT support to WAPA in the areas of; Software maintenance and development, Network, Database, and Operations Support/Management, Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA), Cyber-Security, Solution Architecture, and Project Management.

An average day:
As an Enterprise Solution Architect III, you will lead the design and implementation of our state-of-the-art IT Operations Center (ITOC). The ITOC encompasses a Security Operation Center (SOC), a Network Operation Center (NOC), an IT Service Desk, and advanced IT enterprise monitoring capabilities. Using your background in IT enterprise monitoring, cybersecurity, and forward-thought, you will architect an integrated framework that ensures efficient IT services, seamless operations, and robust cybersecurity measures. In this position you will:
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams to define requirements, establish objectives, and translate them into innovative solutions.
  • Architect the technical framework, processes, workflows, and integration points for the ITOC, aligning them with business goals and industry best practices.
  • Oversee the configuration and integration of cutting-edge monitoring tools, incident management systems, security platforms, and networking technologies.
  • Design and implement robust IT enterprise monitoring capabilities, ensuring real-time visibility into system performance, network health, security events, and operational metrics.
  • Develop comprehensive incident management, response, and resolution processes for security threats, network anomalies, and service disruptions.
  • Lead the creation of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), playbooks, and guidelines for ITOC team members to ensure smooth operations and efficient incident handling.
  • Provide expert guidance and mentorship to the ITOC team, fostering a culture of continuous learning, skill enhancement, and collaboration.
  • Collaborate closely with cybersecurity experts to fortify the ITOC with advanced measures, including threat detection, vulnerability management, data protection, and incident response.
  • Regularly assess and refine the ITOC's architecture, processes, and IT enterprise monitoring strategies to adapt to evolving technology landscapes and emerging security challenges.

Basic Qualifications:
  • As a requirement of this position, all candidates must be a U.S. Citizen. In accordance with 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(2)(C) , Epsilon will not consider candidates for this position who do not meet the aforementioned conditions.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field; Master's degree preferred.
  • 5 years of experience as a Solution Architect, with a demonstrated track record of designing and implementing complex IT operations centers, including SOC, NOC, IT Service Desk, and advanced IT enterprise monitoring.
  • Extensive expertise in IT enterprise monitoring, including proficiency in architecting and integrating monitoring tools, incident management systems, and security platforms.
  • Strong background in cybersecurity, including experience in threat detection, incident response, vulnerability management, and data protection.
  • Extensive knowledge of networking technologies, protocols, and best practices.
  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and provide technical guidance.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Relevant certifications such as Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), Certified Information Security Manager (CISM), TOGAF, and ITIL are advantageous.
