Job Description US CITIZENSHIP REQUIRED
This position is for an experienced systems engineer with space systems, ground systems and operations experience who is highly detailed and self-motivated. Successful candidates for this role are comfortable compiling and communicating detailed and current information on hardware and software systems, have deep mission understanding and are capable of leading and directing tasking for those outside their direct control. The Engineering, Science and Analysis (ESA) Strategic Capabilities Unit comprises the technical talent and organizational leadership that enables the successful delivery of high-impact discriminating technologies for our customers' missions. Our collaborative, cross-functional teams are committed to innovation, integrity, continual learning and strong execution. What You'll Do: Accountable for managing and communicating the record of the state and configuration of the space and ground system (HW, SW, Simulators, etc.).
Maintain deep understanding of overall system and understand how changes to the baseline configuration, procedures and workflows affect the system.
Participate as a key stakeholder in change management review boards to assess impacts to the system and recommend implementation timing.
Work closely with program CE, CSE and operations leads to understand and communicate changes to or status of the system state.
Responsible for coordinating with stakeholders across the program to protect the operability of the system.
Communicate frequently with program leadership, customer leadership and program IPTs.
Responsible for developing and maintaining the system state tool for each addition to the system (on orbit or in development).
Understand the space and ground systems and the role they play within the segment, mission and the enterprise.
Prepare and give presentations to peers/management/customers.
Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule.
Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the department, the Strategic Business Units, Strategic Capabilities Units and the Company. Interact appropriately with others in order to maintain a positive and productive work environment.
Perform other duties as necessary. On-Site Work Environment: This position requires regular in-person engagement by working on-site five days each normally scheduled week in the primary work location. Travel and local commute between company campuses and other possible non-company locations may be required. Working Conditions: Work is performed in an office, laboratory, production floor, or cleanroom, outdoors or remote research environment.
May occasionally work in production work centers where use of protective equipment and gear is required.
May access other facilities in various weather conditions. Required Education, Experience, & Skills BS degree or higher in Engineering or a related technical field is required plus 8 or more years related experience.
Each higher-level related degree, i.e., Master's Degree or Ph.D., may substitute for two years of related experience. Related technical experience may be considered in lieu of education. Degree must be from a university, college, or school which is accredited by an agency recognized by the US Secretary of Education, US Department of Education.
A current, active TS/SCI security clearance is required.
Understanding of systems engineering principles, concepts, industry practices and standards.
Ability to create and manage processes and information in a dynamic environment.
System of Systems or "Big Picture" thinking.
Experience with Atlassian tool suite (Bitbucket, Jira, and Confluence).
Ability to review and assess data integrity against standards.
Excellent communication, interpersonal skills, and the ability to interface with colleagues at all levels.
Knowledge of related disciplines in software engineering, hardware engineering, integration, test engineering, quality engineering, configuration/data management.
Effective presentation skills with experience presenting technical results to senior leadership and customers. Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $137500 - $173500 Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
