Join us at RapidScale and become a technical driver in helping companies transition to AWS and Azure. This position will primarily fulfill an engineering role in project-based engagements with clients, focusing on deploying cloud environments based on agreed-upon architectures, navigating clients through the application integration phase, and taking clients to the finish line with go-live.

Cloud Systems Engineers may also participate in architecture design and reviews, occasional pre-sales calls as subject matter experts, and internal DevOps initiatives.

The CSE is expected to be a thought leader at RapidScale and, therefore, highly knowledgeable about the technical aspects of our cloud services and the industry, which may include but are not limited to:
  • Cloud Computing on Azure

At RapidScale, we provide assessment, design, build, and management services to a diverse range of Azure clients. As one of less than 60 partners worldwide with the Azure Expert MSP designation, we're committed to delivering solutions that harness Azure's full power and capabilities. We build highly resilient, secure, automated, and cost-efficient environments. In this critical role, you'll not only help us achieve these goals for our clients but also play a significant part in enabling RapidScale to meet our ambitious growth targets.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities
  • Work on interesting client projects spanning various activities like greenfield deployments, migrations to the cloud, app modernization, containers, and bespoke solutions that meet client requirements.
  • Follow Rapidscale and vendors' best practices during implementation to achieve security, compliance, performance, and cost efficiency objectives.
  • Represent Rapidscale's cloud enablement and management capabilities to prospective customers and existing customer base and influence customer expectations based on product and management capabilities and constraints.
  • Navigate additional client requirements during implementation and provide technical solutions and troubleshooting.
  • Work with our Managed Services team to provide a smooth transition of client environments for ongoing management, including written environment documentation, updated diagrams, and conducting internal handover sessions at the project's conclusion.
  • Help expand the PS team's capabilities by offering technical training and support to your peers.
  • Participate in internal Azure R&D to improve technical processes, validate new technologies and cloud services, and automate/script commonly performed tasks.

  • Bachelor's degree in a related discipline and 4+ years' experience in a related field. The right candidate could also have a different combination, such as a master's degree and 2 years' experience; a Ph.D. and up to 1 year of experience; or 8 years' experience in a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience performing infrastructure deployments, configuration, automation, and design on the Azure platform.
  • IaC-first approach to deploying resources on Azure - Terraform, ARM templates.
  • Strong experience migrating workloads from on-prem or other clouds to Azure using native Azure tools like Azure Migrate and ASR.
  • Strong understanding and hands-on experience with Azure networking options: S2S/P2S VPN, VNet peering, NSGs, Availability Zones, DR networking options, Virtual WAN, and more.
  • Strong understanding and implementation of Azure IAM: Azure RBAC, Entra ID, and native AD options.
  • Hands-on with Azure policies to enforce configuration standards.
  • Scripting and querying experience (e.g., Powershell, Bash, Python, Azure CLI, KQL).
  • Some experience deploying IaC and/or applications with CI/CD pipelines - GitHub, GitLab, Azure DevOps, etc.
  • Some Sysadmin on Windows and/or Linux.
  • Azure Administrator Associate certification at a minimum.

  • Experience with performing rehost, replatform, and refactor migrations to Azure.
  • Azure Network Engineer Associate, Azure SA Expert certifications.
  • Experience with deploying and configuring Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) service.
  • Any experience with AWS or GCP is a plus.
