Who We Are We are seeking Junior Tradespersons in the various specialties of Mechanical, Electrical, Welding, HVAC, and Pipe Fitting to help us provide expert solutions on shipboard alterations & installation for fleet modernization in the San Diego, CA area. The selected candidate will work on active class submarines, surface ships and shore facilities using various tools to assist with alterations and installations for fleet modernization on various contracts such as Naval Undersea Warfare Center, Naval Information Warfare Systems Command and Naval Surface Warfare Center. Per diem paid for all work travel outside the local area. Travel expenses paid for by the company. What You Will Do Under direction, performs routine work technical trades duties to include support of technical repairs and installations.
Work from blueprints and tech manuals.
Work assigned is typical of standard work assignments common to specialty trades.
Report any equipment failures, fixtures, or areas of the workspace in need of repair or maintenance to supervisor.
Perform duties with integrity both independently and while working alongside team members.
Promptly report to designated work assignments and notify supervisors of any concerns or issues which may cause delays.
Adhere to company safety policies and regulations.
Applies job skills and company policies to complete a wide range of tasks that vary based on job, contract, customer requirements, specifications, etc.
Performs semi-skilled and unskilled laboring duties related to the installation, maintenance and repair of a wide variety of systems and equipment.
What You Must Have High School education, or Trade School or equivalent, and 1 year of related experience.
Must be able to obtain and maintain a DOD Secret clearance and a DBIDS/CAC badge for base access/credentials.
Must have experience working in a team environment.
Must provide own hand tools as designated per trades specialty.
Bonus Points For Knowledge and/or experience in a trades specialty in the following areas Mechanical, Electrical, Welding, HVAC, and Pipe Fitting.
Candidates with prior marine and/or industrial experience highly desired.
Candidates who are currently enrolled or a graduate from and/or completed vocational school or skilled trade certificate programs are preferred.
Possession of an active DOD Clearance is a plus.
Prior fire-watch training and/or experienced desired.
Candidates with experience reading and using precision measuring tools (i.e. micrometers, slide calipers, indicators, voltage meters, and gages) are preferred.
OSHA 10 maritime Certification is a plus.
Candidates possessing a current U.S. Travel passport are preferred.
Physical Requirements Must be able to lift, carry and transport heavy equipment and boxes. The exact weight requirements will be determined by the specific job, but no less than 30 lbs. Able to work on and climb ladders, work in extreme temperature environments, aboard ships, in shipyards, under industrial conditions and in confined spaces. Able to perform other duties as required which may involve high heat, humidity, noise and dirty conditions, working aloft or over the sides of vessels. May ride ships at sea for extended periods. May require wearing a respirator. Most work is performed aboard ships or in industrial conditions. Travel may be required within and outside of the continental United States.
