Job Description:
The main function of a validation engineer is to lead the analysis, development, and validation subteam process across assigned vehicle programs.
Job Responsibilities:
Define vehicle/buck requirements for assigned partitions.
Lead test hardware reduction process for partitions.
Take appropriate action on issues, lead recovery plan efforts as necessary.
Support Supplier Validation process.
Develop and maintain partition ADV Plan/Schedule.
Provide ADV partition assessment for PDT/PIT.
Provide technical leadership across platform groups
Knowledge in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Knowledge of Lotus Notes or other email communication tools.
Good interpersonal skills involving ability to work effectively cross-functionally and cross-culturally.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work independently and with a team.
Ability to partner with senior management to analyze and solve issues.
Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
Strong knowledge of automotive engineering methodology.
Relevant auto industry experience required.
Expert knowledge across Testing, Design, Analysis processes.
Bachelors degree in Engineering or related technical field.
2-4 years of experience required.
Specific Responsibilities Of This Position:
The Role We are seeking a hard-working innovative and curious Validation Test Engineer and Lead System Test Engineer to add to our Global Powertrain Electrification Validation GPEV team. We ensure the design of our Electrified propulsion and powertrain products Batteries Drive Units Power Electronics Transmissions Engines delight our customers. As a Validation Test Engineer VTE you will be planning developing methods and carrying out system and component-level testing in world-class labs. This is a hands-on position. In this role crucial skills like creativity independent judgement and multi-functional teamwork are prized and can be further developed. You will operate with design validation technical specialists systems engineers lab integration engineers and technicians to bring exciting products to market. Engineers in this role may have opportunity for growth and develop into Lead System Test Engineers LSTE. LSTEs learn leadership skills and will be engaged in programs throughout the development lifecycle. It is a great way to get involved with mentoring other VTEs while also developing new and/or special validation tests and fixtures just to name a few. Responsibilities Include: bull Develop and execute comprehensive test plans test methods and test automation to support validation sign-off address challenges as they arise in a rapidly growing industry bull Applies analytical tools in validation process bull Support an Agile Team-based structure where you will rotate through fresh assignments supporting test execution process innovation and moving toward virtual hardware-less validation techniques bull Operate with focus on safety in state-of-the-art test lab environments bull Investigate testing anomalies and generate reports to highlight findings bull Perform and support root cause analysis and correction of system level problems relating to hardware validation bull Analyze and peer review test results and participate in data-driven efficiency initiatives bull Engage in programs as production-intent designs are available and see them through to launch bull Coordinates and consults with various departments outside engineering bull Collaborates Interfaces with Component and System Validation Engineers bull Stays abreast of new technology and competitive products Education One of the following is required: bull BS in Mechanical Engineering Electrical Engineering Chemical Engineering Computer Science or Physics Required Skills / Qualifications bull Bachelor of Science in Engineering Physics Math Computer Science Information Technology or Chemistry bull Minimum of 2 years of post-graduation engineering experience bull Demonstrated excellence in communication and collaboration in a diverse team environment bull Ability to learn complex system functions i.e. engine transmission electric propulsion Drive units RESS quickly bull Demonstrated ability to influence without authority Preferred Skills /Qualifications bull Experience with electrical thermal or chemical virtual modeling and simulation bull Willing to gain specific training from a variety of people / techniques bull Proficient with Inca and/or Puma bull Calibration and/or development experience bull Outstanding data-driven decision-making history bull Demonstrated analytical ability for unusual and difficult problems bull Familiar with laboratory operations and test equipment including engine/transmission dynamometers load frames power supplies electrodynamic shakers environmental chambers test site controllers continuous monitoring fixture design/fabrication test equipment/setups and laboratory accreditation standards bull Experience with RESS battery durability and safety testing bull Working knowledge of Li-Ion Battery cell modules and batteries bull Experience in one or several areas: Battery Electric Vehicle Systems Electric Motors Drive Units Power Electronics HV Batteries Vehicle or System-Level Calibration ICE or Conventional Transmission Development or Validation Instrumentation Test Automation bull Demonstrated interpersonal skills and ability to work with cross-functional teams bull Knowledge of reliability durability calculations bull Demonstrated adaptability and ability to change with program modifications/updates bull Self-motivated to work independently

Laboratory Testing Facility, PPE requirements to be on site and access areas of the facility
Preferred Work Schedule:
M-F, 8am-5pmMay occasionally be required to support remotely on weekends
