Role Summary:
The Future Programs team exists to expand the definition of Electric Adventure Vehicle with new products and ecosystem solutions. We are specifically focused on addressing local transportation and the outsized impact towards Keeping the World Adventurous Forever that comes with disrupting short, high emission trips.
Responsibilities:
Create and develop automated Dyno validation infrastructure to enable reliable, efficient, thorough, accurate, and repeatable tests
Provide onsite support to install and verify new Dyno units or perform modifications, upgrades, or troubleshooting for existing systems. This can include cabinets, load boxes, power supplies, IO channels, communications networks, PCs and displays
Coordinate design and custom test fixtures and sensors for data acquisition equipment as needed
Model, Design, Develop, Validate and Ship control system algorithms and embedded software for lightweight propulsions systems and various user input devices (binary, proportional, etc)
Contribute to requirements engineering, HIL, SIL workstreams
Define system regression test cases and pass/fail criteria
Collaborate closely with mechanical design, electrical design, test, and embedded software teams
Qualifications:
Minimum of M.S. in formal mechanical or electrical engineering education with focus on control system theory. Higher degree preferred
2+ years of education in control systems theory development
2+ years of engineering experience in dyno testing environment, developing systems with electric rotating machinery
Knowledge of data acquisition systems and data analysis techniques
Strong engineering fundamentals in the areas of dynamical systems, control theory, high frequency/high bandwidth applications
Significant knowledge and experience developing custom real time solutions in MATLAB/Simulink RT/Stateflow
Strong understand of rotating machine dynamics, friction, backlash, NVH and controls methods to mitigate
Significant experience developing solutions with flexible RT hardware - examples Speedgoat, dSpace, NewEagle, etc
Experience in developing custom UIs for test and development applications
Strong understanding of BLDC motor control, various input sensors, low level/high speed signal formats as well as over typical network protocols such as CAN and EtherCat
Deep skill in leveraging MATLAB/Simulink/Simscape suite for design and target code generation
Knowledge of version control (Git) and continuous integration
Knowledge of the constraints and tactics required to develop code sets compatible with resource constrained micro controllers (in addition to rapid prototyping platforms)
Pay Disclosure:
Salary range for California Based Applicants: $186,000-$232,500 (actual compensation will be determined based on experience, location, and other factors permitted by law).
