About the role
We are looking for an experienced technology and product development individual to lead our embedded software teams. The Director of Embedded Software Engineering will be responsible for execution of the product roadmap, assuring excellence in software development and growing the capabilities of the team.
What you will do
  • Lead embedded software design, development, and validation for new products
  • Assure all code development adheres to best practices for modularity, testability and security
  • Work closely with product management to align roadmap priorities with resource allocation
  • Refine as needed the dev ops process to assure quality and timely releases
  • Serve as the company expert for all things embedded software
  • Lead the team
    • Lead the Atom Power embedded software team with a focus on individual and team success
    • Establish team and individual Objectives and Key Results (OKRs), trace progress quarterly and annually
    • Assure that OKRs align with the overall business and project objectives
    • Serve as a mentor and coach for project or team leaders with the goal of establishing next generation leaders
    • Provide ongoing performance feedback both positive and constructive
    • Contribute to the success of recruitment activities
What you bring
  • BS in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or related field
  • 10 years of experience developing, testing, and documenting embedded software in an agile product development environment
  • 8 years of experience leading embedded software teams
  • Working knowledge of programming languages (Go, C, C++, Python)
  • Demonstrated expertise in cyber security best practices
  • Experience with bare-metal, RTOS-based firmware development and development in embedded Linux environments
  • Strong fundamentals including common algorithms, design patterns and data structures
  • Experience developing and automating development test processes at unit, integration, and system levels
  • Direct experience developing and implementing Machine Learning programs
  • Experience with common wired, and wireless communication technologies
We'd love to see
  • Advanced degree in Computer Science or equivalent related field
  • Experience designing embedded software for safety critical application that require US or international safety approvals
  • Experience developing secure IoT products
  • Demonstrated competency designing systems communicating with industrial networking protocols (HTTP, TCP/IP, MQTT, Modbus, BACnet, CAN)
  • Experience developing analytics for power systems or protection systems
