We are recruiting GIS Technical Specialists for a project starting in July/August.

The positions will be long-term, and we are looking for local candidates in the Sacramento, CA, area.

We are seeking an experienced GIS Technical Specialists to join our Sacramento, California based team on a Hybrid (Local Remote/On-site) contract position. The GIS Technical Specialist will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining geographic information systems and databases. This role requires expertise in GIS software, data management, spatial analysis, and cartography.

Responsibilities:
  • Design, develop, and maintain GIS databases, including spatial and non-spatial data.
  • Perform spatial analysis, data modeling, and geoprocessing tasks to support various projects and initiatives.
  • Create high-quality maps, visualizations, and reports using GIS software and tools.
  • Collaborate with project teams, stakeholders, and subject matter experts to understand and meet their GIS needs.
  • Provide technical support and training to end-users on GIS software and applications.
  • Ensure data integrity, accuracy, and security by implementing quality control measures and data management protocols.
  • Stay up to date with the latest GIS technologies, software, and industry best practices.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Geography, GIS, Computer Science, or a related field
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience working with GIS software and technologies (e.g., ArcGIS, QGIS, FME)
  • Strong proficiency in spatial data management, analysis, and cartographic techniques
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Familiarity with programming languages (e.g., Python, SQL) for GIS automation and scripting
  • Knowledge of database management systems and data modeling principles
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
  • Ability to multitask and work on multiple projects simultaneously.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in GIS, Geography, or a related field
  • Experience with web-based GIS technologies (e.g., ArcGIS Online, ArcGIS Enterprise)
  • Knowledge of remote sensing and image processing techniques
  • Familiarity with GPS, surveying, and field data collection methods
  • Expertise in transportation domain
