Job Title: Chief Systems Engineer (Active Secret Clearance Required) Job Code: 12091 Job Location: Fort Wayne, IN or Palm Bay, FL, or Rochester, NY, or Colorado Springs, CO Job Description: L3Harris Technologies has an immediate opening for a Chief Systems Engineer in either of the following locations: Fort Wayne, IN or Palm Bay, FL, or Rochester, NY, or Colorado Springs, CO. The ideal candidate for this position will be proficient in all aspects of the systems engineering process, will have direct and significant experience designing and testing complex systems, and will be comfortable coordinating teams of technical personnel. L3Harris is looking for Systems Engineers to help design, develop, integrate, test, and deliver space based remote sensing systems to our customers and support their on-going operations in the areas of both weather and missile warning/missile defense. Essential Functions: Support/lead concept of operation development and requirements analysis, decomposition, and generation at various levels of the system
Support/lead requirements traceability and development of test plans to cover requirements
Support/lead integration and test of electro-optical/infrared systems and related hardware/software
Support/lead data analysis and modeling and simulation
Support/Lead design reviews (PDR, CDR, etc.)
Provides support to engineering in developing technical specifications, interface control documents, test plans and procedures, and test conformance to specifications
Present work to multi-disciplinary team and internal/external customers
Provide mentoring to less experienced Systems Engineers
Contribute to proposal activities
Program planning, guidance, and execution
Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree with a minimum of 15 years of prior related experience. Graduate Degree with a minimum of 13 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 19 years of prior related experience.
Active US Government Secret Security Clearance Experience generating/managing requirements at various levels of the system and flowing down requirements to sub-systems/sub-components
Experience using DOORS and/or MBSE software
Experience leading multi-discipline technical teams
Technical expertise in Electrical, Mechanical, Optical or equivalent engineering discipline
Preferred Additional Skills: Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline
Master of Science or PhD degree
Experience working on aerospace/defense systems (space payloads, spacecraft bus, ground systems, environmental testing)Excellent inter-personal and communication skills, ability to interact with a cross functional team, act as customer interface
Ability to collaborate across all levels of leadership
Experience with project management aspects of programs (cost account management/earned value management system, estimating costs, managing schedules)
Experience with data analysis and/or modeling and simulation (e.g. with MATLAB/python)
Experience with estimating and managing costs
Experience architecting, analyzing, developing, and integrating end to end systems in areas such as EO/IR, RF, or space payload and spacecraft bus subsystems
Ability to work ITAR or EAR projects
In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role is $153,500 - $283,500. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location.
