We Energies, a subsidiary of WEC Energy Group, is seeking a Power Generation Chemical Engineering Specialist at our Milwaukee, Wisconsin or Green Bay locations.

This is a job family (Associate Engineering Specialist, Engineering Specialist, Senior Engineering Specialist and Principal Engineering Specialist) posting where the experience of the selected candidate will determine the level offered.
Job Summary
Join a group of engineers supporting the operation, maintenance, performance and optimization of the Power Generation fleet. This position provides vital support to the various thermal and renewable power generation facilities in Wisconsin and Upper Peninsula Michigan. The selected candidate will provide chemical and environmental engineering support to facilities in the We Energies and Wisconsin Public Service fleets.

This position will include regular travel to Power Generation (PG) facilities in southeastern Wisconsin, and intermittent travel to central Wisconsin and Michigan.
Job Responsibilities
  • Perform troubleshooting, performance evaluations, optimization, failure analysis, and asset management of plant cycle chemistry, makeup water systems, plant wastewater, emissions control systems, and related equipment. Determine and initiate corrective actions.
  • Manage the fleet cycle chemistry programs, including monitoring and troubleshooting of operating conditions and updating program standards as necessary.
  • Prepare engineering designs, perform engineering calculations, and ensure adherence to applicable codes and standards.
  • Perform equipment testing, troubleshooting, and data analysis.
  • Support and learn performance monitoring/optimization tools to ensure improved equipment and system reliability, efficiency and performance.
  • Manage small to medium sized projects, including material and equipment specifications, cost estimates, economic analysis, proposal review, and overseeing construction.
  • Evaluate chemicals and chemical processes for safety and performance.
  • Update drawings and other engineering documentation and maintains corporate records.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Project Management, or related technical discipline is preferred. In lieu of Bachelor's degree, an Associate's degree in Engineering, Project Management, or related technical discipline with three years of engineering/project management experience will be accepted.
