Job Description US CITIZENSHIP REQUIRED
The Western Services Laser Division (WSLD), part of the Engineering, Science, and Analysis (ESA) strategic capabilities unit (SCU), ensures that capabilities of our scientific, engineering, and technical teams are properly aligned to execute current and future efforts through strategic deployment of key talent and the continual development of capabilities to support current and future efforts associated with directed energy (DE) programs. We are currently seeking to hire a leader for our laser technologies development and test team. The nominal candidate for this position will have relevant experience in this program focus area, and a record of successful leadership, collaboration, and problem-solving skills. The Engineering, Science and Analysis (ESA) Strategic Capabilities Unit comprises the technical talent and organizational leadership that enables the successful delivery of high-impact discriminating technologies for our customers' missions. Our collaborative, cross-functional teams are committed to innovation, integrity, continual learning and strong execution. What You'll Do: Manage personnel and lead staffing decisions in the laser technologies and laser testing technical focus areas.
Lead multidisciplinary teams in the execution of projects supporting program/contract objectives in the laser technology and laser testing focus areas.
Lead multidisciplinary teams in the execution of projects supporting program/contract objectives - e.g., designing optical systems and/or hardware in support of new laser technologies, optimizing laser performance parameters through innovative designs, and testing laser performance within laboratory and field-test conditions.
Collaborate with subject matter experts in related functional technical areas to support laser source development, optimization, and characterization. May include infrastructure and facility improvement requirements to support technical objectives and acquisition of custom or off the shelf components.
Lead the compilation and preparation of documents (e.g. briefings and reports) to support technical meetings and contract deliverables, and effectively communicate understanding of both the technical and programmatic aspects of a project to the project team, program managers, and customers.
Promote development of a strong team by participation in key aspects of the projects assigned and by mentoring more junior team members. Must also be willing to advocate for opportunities to develop team capabilities through strategic recommendations for things such as short-courses, college courses, and conference attendance.
Identify and develop burgeoning leaders and delegate growth focused tasks by establishing clear expectations, clear entrance/exit criteria, due dates, and associated budgets (as required).
Support time-phase/staffing estimates for assigned program focus areas utilizing existing standardized tools.
Demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills, strong written, communication, oral presentations skills, and ability to lead group discussions.
May work with classified documents which requires thorough knowledge of DoD procedures for the proper usage and safeguarding of classified information.
Provide timely feedback to team members about his/her performance. Seek opportunities to recognize outstanding performance via the Employee Recognition Process. Address poor performance appropriately.
Support identification and pursuit of business opportunities through direct involvement in pre-proposal and proposal activities.
Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule.
Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the department, the Strategic Business Units, Strategic Capabilities Units and the Company. Interact appropriately with others in order to maintain a positive and productive work environment.
Perform other duties as necessary. On-Site Work Environment: This position requires regular in-person engagement by working on-site three or more days each normally scheduled week in the primary work location. Travel and local commute between company campuses and other possible non-company locations may be required. Working Conditions: Work is performed in an office, laboratory, production floor, or cleanroom, outdoors or remote research environment.
May occasionally work in production work centers where use of protective equipment and gear is required.
May access other facilities in various weather conditions. Required Education, Experience, & Skills BS/BA in related field plus 10 years or more related experience.
Each higher-level degree, i.e., Master's Degree or Ph.D., may substitute for two years of experience. Related technical experience may be considered in lieu of education. Degree must be from a university, college, or school which is accredited by an agency recognized by the US Secretary of Education, US Department of Education.
A current, active Department of Defense Top Secret security clearance is required.
An ability to apply sound leadership and management principles to an organization of high performing individuals supporting laser effects testing and related technical areas.
Solid organizational and coordination skills

Full-Time Salary Range: $144000 - $199000 Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
