Lead the Mission Systems Business Area within the Tactical Solutions Strategic Business Unit of BAE Systems SMS. Responsible to the VP of Tactical Solutions for business strategy, financial performance and overseeing all aspects of the Mission Systems portfolio of current and emerging programs. Seeking a proven leader with mature business, financial and technical acumen who can build on an already high-performing team. The Tactical Solutions Strategic Business Unit delivers mission system solutions, specializing in electro-optical (EO), Infra-Red (IR) and Radio Frequency (RF) technologies, to the warfighter. Our systems enhance the performance of various military platforms; including aircraft, land vehicles, ships and satellites, to give warfighters the advantage they need in combat. What You'll Do: Lead the Mission Systems Business area with responsibility for overall performance:
Develop and lead a highly cross-functional team in the Missions Systems Business Area focused on EO/IR & RF technologies. Responsible for meeting or exceeding business performance metrics of the Business Area including sales, profit and bookings.
Partner with the Tactical Solutions VP and other TS leaders to build a collaborative, inclusive leadership team committed to TS and SMS goals.
Responsible for participating in development and execution of the overarching TS strategy and developing and executing the MS strategy for EO/IR and RF technologies. Develop a unifying vision and 5-year strategic plan for MS.
Collaborate in setting the TS and MS Internal R&D priorities; Set a 3-year investment strategy which supports the Integrated Business Plan and 5-year strategic plan.
Lead efforts for new business development including customer engagements, pricing strategies, proposal generation and negotiation strategies for new business opportunities.
Drive program execution excellence by leveraging key processes, tools and training of PM staff.
Technical leadership credibility within the EO/IR and RF fields is a must.
Collaborate closely with Engineering on staffing demand and forecasting and maturing Systems Engineering and system level skill sets.
Collaborate closely with Finance and TS VP on business performance forecasting and execution.
Provide leadership and functional management of Business Area staff by exhibiting ethical and supportive behaviors aligned with the tenants of senior leadership. The behaviors would include:

Understanding the diverse needs of others to meet business challenges.
Managing individual performance and developing support staff.
Delegating effectively.
Utilizing breadth of Business Area skills and talent while providing clear goals, expectations and accountability.

MS Business Area Sr. Director shall ensure collaborative and transparent relationships with all Strategic Support Units including but not limited to Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Operations, and Finance.
Represent TS with customers and at industry and government conferences.
Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule.
Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the department, the Strategic Business Units, Strategic Capabilities Units and the Company. Interact appropriately with others in order to maintain a positive and productive work environment.
Perform other duties as necessary. On-Site Work Environment: This position requires regular in-person engagement by working four days each normally scheduled week in the primary work location. Travel and local commute between company campuses and other possible non-company locations may be required. Working Conditions: Work is performed in an office environment, laboratory, cleanroom, or production floor. Required Education, Experience, & Skills BS/BA in related field plus 15 years or more related experience.
Each higher-level degree, i.e., Master's Degree or Ph.D., may substitute for two years of experience. Related technical experience may be considered in lieu of education. Degree must be from a university, college, or school which is accredited by an agency recognized by the US Secretary of Education, US Department of Education.
A current, active Secret security clearance is required.
Experience operating within classified program environments.
Demonstrated track record of success at all levels.
Demonstrated leadership and interpersonal skills.
Experience in technical leadership for defense systems.
Experience in new business capture activities.
Experience in leading design teams.
Strong relationships within the DoD customer community.

Full-Time Salary Range: $203000 - $280000 Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
