Hydraquip Electric (HES) systems is looking for candidates ready to help build a growing controls and automation business based in Houston, TX. We are hiring for a Summer Controls Engineer Internship which will consist of time assisting engineering with customer projects, drawings & specifications, hands-on experience in our shop and opportunity to shadow meetings with clients and vendors.

As an intern, you will be part of the Campus Ambassador Program which provides exposure to a variety of departments at Hydraquip Electric Systems, an opportunity to network with interns from our sister companies and present projects you've worked on over the summer to top leadership. We value interns as the future of our company and we work hard to ensure you have meaningful projects throughout the summer.

Specific Responsibilities Include:

Work with engineering team with drawings, shop drawings and assembly layouts.

Assist with selection, application, and system configuration of electric and hybrid electric drivetrain systems for various off-highway, marine, and other applications.

Assist with control system design and PLC programming.

Design electrical equipment, components, products, and systems for commercial, industrial, and domestic purposes.

Review contracted designs and provide suggestions for design improvement.

Use AutoCAD & Solidworks to perform engineering tasks.

Experience on the shop floor with system design and assembly.

Work with team to commission systems.

Requirements

Education:

Must be currently enrolled in an ABET accredited undergraduate degree program for electrical engineering, working towards certificate related to the mechantronics or electrical fields.

Prefer GPA of 3.0 or higher.

Prefer junior or senior but will consider other class levels.

Knowledge and Skills:

Ability to work independently and eager to take on responsibilities.

Working knowledge of Microsoft office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

Experience with AutoCAD and SOLIDWORKS design a plus.

Hands-on mechanical aptitude a plus.

Strong organizational and time management skills.

Analytical, problem-solving and conceptual thinking skills.
