Overview:
Kimley-Horn's Sacramento, CA office is seeking an Electrical Engineer with 4+ years of experience to join their Electrical team! This is not a remote position.
Responsibilities:
Design of electrical systems including solar, battery storage, and electric vehicle charging
Delegate tasks to junior staff or other team members
QA/QC design documents
Review, comment and approve equipment submittalsp4
Respond to RFI's
Conduct or oversee power system studies such as short circuit, thermal ampacity, and load flow
Technical problem solving and resolving
Participate on project teams in an active production role
Participate in project meetings internally and externally with clients
Preparation of project specifications
Support senior staff with preparing electrical design cost estimates and proposals
Daily interaction and collaboration on cross-functional teams across multiple disciplines
Coordination and verification of as-built drawings
Perform quality work that promotes client retention
Responsible for the development of reports and design documents, including solar photovoltaic electrical site plans, equipment selection, photovoltaic module string sizing calculations, ampacity calculations and wire sizing
Qualifications:
4+ years of design experience in electrical engineering specifically in any of the following: Solar PV design, Battery energy storage, or energy modeling
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (advanced degrees are a plus)
PE or ability to obtain within 1 year
Understanding of the National Electrical Code, other NFPA codes/standards, and energy codes
Proficiency using Computer-Aided Design and Drafting (AutoCAD)
Previous experience with solar production modeling is a plus
Previous experience with electrical solar photovoltaic design or battery storage is a plus
Passion for renewables
Electrical Power System Studies, Electrical lighting, and fire alarm design experience desired
Superior verbal and written communication skills
The ability to work independently or in a team environment effectively
The ability to work in a fast-paced, challenging environment
Salary Range:
$130,000 - $180,000
