Responsibilities:
Sabre Systems is currently hiring an experienced Engineer Technician V (Machinist/Fabrication) to operate a variety of CNC machine tools to manufacture parts, assemble components, and act as an engineering-manufacturing liaison/planner to support the Naval Surface Warfare Center, Dahlgren Division (NSWCDD), Platform Integration (H40) Division. The Platform Integration Division designs, develops, and integrates safe, innovative, and effective weapon control systems, detection systems, sensory, and weapon systems onto manned, unmanned, land, air, and sea platforms for the warfighter to include lethal and non-lethal weapons, guidance and control, unmanned and autonomous systems, advanced sensory, and weapons effectiveness for surface warfare, maritime operations, expeditionary warfare and special operations.
Interpret drawings or Solidworks CAD files to determine manufacturing processes.
Estimate time and capacity required for jobs. Plan jobs, schedule tasks, and manage tooling,
Select materials, tooling, and routing sequences.
Set up and generate CNC programs manually or with CAD/CAM systems.
Maintain inventory of consumables (e.g., endmills, drills, taps).
Collaborate with engineering staff for manufacturability assessments and alternative methods.
Generate CNC code from CAD/CAM systems (Solidworks/CAMWorks/Mastercam).
Maintain equipment and shop area.
Propose new processes or equipment to improve efficiency.
Communicate facility capabilities to operations and engineering staff.
Supervise and train apprentices or journeyman machinists as needed.
Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED; plus 10 years of related experience performing job duties substantially similar to the above.
Proficiency in basic arithmetic, algebra, trigonometry, and geometry.
Excellent knowledge of cutting tools, speeds, and feeds.
Ability to calculate surface feet per minute and chip load.
Understanding of Geometry Dimensioning and Tolerancing.
Familiarity with job planning, scheduling, and estimating.
Experience with CAD/CAM programming, 3D CAD modeling, and manual G code programming.
Experience with vertical milling and turning.
Experience with Solidworks/CAMWorks/Mastercam, HAAS controllers, multi-axis machining, and wire-EDM is a plus.
Travel on contract is required (
An active DoD Secret Clearance is required
Candidate is required to pass a background investigation
Must be a US Citizen
