Job Title: Scientist, Systems Engineer (ACE - Optical Communications)
Job Code: 13673
Job Location: Palm Bay, FL; Herndon, VA; Carlsbad, CA; San Diego, CA
Job Description:
L3Harris Corporation is seeking an Advanced Concepts Engineer (ACE) with Optical Communication expertise to support space / airborne / multi-domain programs from Palm Bay, FL; Herndon, VA; San Diego, CA; or Carlsbad, CA. This is an opportunity to take on unique challenges, while building on your extensive knowledge of free-space optical communication networks. Your professionally recognized skills and experience will deliver vital contributions to mission critical solutions that help protect the U.S.A. and our allies. This is a multi-dimensional role that will include 'front end' communications with customers relating to technology and applications addressing continually evolving mission scenarios and emergent threats. Your technical and business acumen make you a 'go to' resource to support opportunity development, shaping, pursuit, capture, winning, execution, and delivery of key programs for the business area and parent corporation.
Essential Functions:
The Free-Space Optical Comm ACE provides the strategic technical leadership to draw on L3Harris' technical competencies to meet the business needs of L3Harris and its customers. You will support the Space and Airborne Systems Segments' expansion strategy and our DoD and Intelligence Community customers to advance our capabilities across existing and new mission areas. We develop world-class space and airborne communications capabilities in support of our customer's most challenging missions and seek to identify cross-business synergies to align these capabilities within highly complex mission spaces.
The Free-Space Optical Comm ACE role bridges between our engineering, program management and business development functions. This critical position will drive innovation and technical execution of high-performance communication system products and solutions that support US National Security interests. The ideal individual will thrive in a matrix organization, and possess a strong understanding of system engineering, multidisciplinary processes, technical principles, and practical techniques in addition to having a proven track record of successful technical achievement and leadership. The ACE takes into account all of the needs, resources, and constraints, including the customer mission, budget limitations, technical preferences, physics boundaries, and the political climate, in a manner that creates trust in the ACE as well as L3Harris. The successful candidate will guide technology innovation; support technology and mission roadmap development; promote program execution excellence; and source innovative concepts for novel solutioning within emergent problem spaces.
This is a Full-Time position in Palm Bay, FL; northern Virginia; or southern CA.
Position may require up to 20% travel.
