R- Description The Defense Systems Sector, is seeking a talented Systems Engineer to join a diverse team to create unique solutions for complex problems. With offices across the United States engaging in the defense, space, cyber and commercial fields, we provide responsive, cost-effective engineering, scientific and IT solutions. The Model-Based Systems Engineer will work in a matrixed organization for the Defense Sector, supporting multiple programs at once in a variety of engineering fields with all different team environments, from the large-scale programs that Leidos is the prime contractor for, like the Hypersonics Weapons Program and Enduring Shield Program, to smaller-scale programs for which Leidos provides support as a subcontractor to companies in the top 100 DoD contractors. The Systems Engineer will support the Enduring Shield Program, which is a ground-based, mobile system that aims to combat cruise missiles and unmanned aircraft systems. As part of the Enduring Indirect Fire Protection Capability program (IFPC), the system protects and defends civilian and military infrastructure and bridges the gap between tactical short range air defense systems and our strategic systems. When the program ends, the Systems Engineer will have the opportunity to support a different program in the matrixed Leidos - Dynetics portfolio. A candidate with experience in other systems engineering areas such as Model-Based Systems Engineering, Human Factors Engineering, Risk Management, and Reliability Analysis will be treated preferentially. However, a strong background in traditional systems engineering is what is required for this position. Primary Responsibilities The Systems Engineer will manage requirements specifications derived from customer needs for the Enduring Shield Program. The selected candidate will be part of a team that interfaces with the government customer, program management, the cost accounting manager, subcontractors, and design engineers to support a program's systems engineering needs throughout its design life cycle, including performing requirements verification, helping develop test programs, and maintaining configuration management. The selected candidate will also be responsible for contributing to recurring deliverables to the customer, including adjudicating their comments. Basic Qualifications A Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or equivalent degree from an ABET-accredited university with 4+ years of experience or 2+ years with MS. Experience modeling in Cameo Systems Modeler (or equivalent) using SysML, and experience using Teamwork Cloud. Experience in deriving requirements for complex electrical, electro-mechanical, mechanical, and software systems. Position requires candidates to be capable of performing in a collaborative engineering environment working closely with multi-disciplinary teams. Demonstrated experience effectively communicating within a team environment. Demonstrated experience effectively leading a team of engineers. Candidates must be a US Citizen and possess (and be able to maintain) a Final Secret Clearance or meet the eligibility to obtain (and maintain) a Secret Clearance. Resident of the North Alabama area or willing to relocate to the Huntsville - North Alabama, AL area. Preferred Qualifications Preferred candidates will have experience and/or working knowledge with: Other Model Based System Engineering (MBSE) modeling tools such as Sparx EA or IBM Rhapsody, using other modeling languages such as UML or the DoDAF Modeling Language (UPDM) DOORS and/or other requirements database tools Understanding of the DoD acquisition processes and methods Experience supporting DoD, NASA, or DARPA program Object Management Group (OMG) Certified System Modeler Professional (OCSMP) certification INCOSE Systems Engineering Professional (SEP) certification (ASEP or CSEP) Original Posting Date: 2024-08-05
