To support these goals, Leidos is seeking a Intelligent Transportation Systems Engineer to join a highly successful team in researching and developing Smart City Applications including Connected and Automated Vehicle (CAV) technologies, roadside sensing, and Artificial Intelligence to shape the future of transportation. Location: McLean, VA Role Overview: We are seeking a dedicated Intelligent Transportation Systems Engineer to join our McLean, Virginia group. The successful candidate will engage in various projects aiming to develop and optimize the use of advanced technologies (such as intelligent transportation systems (ITS), CDA, C-V2X, sensing and artificial intelligence, and CAV) to improve urban mobility and safety. Key Duties, but are not limited to: Interact with in-house and external development teams to identify, understand, and resolve technical goals and challenges.
Develop solutions to improve the safety and mobility of multimodal transportation systems.
Develop Concept of Operations and System Requirements for a variety of transportation applications/use cases.
Execute innovative solutions involving the integration of ITS, CDA, C-V2X, Sensing, AI, and CAV applications to improve the transportation of people and goods through the implementation of cutting-edge algorithms as well as simulation approaches.
Analyze large-scale datasets to explain the performance of the transportation system and transportation technologies.
Create guidance, training, and outreach materials aimed at technical audiences, practitioners, and various stakeholders, focusing on diverse aspects of transportation.
Develop documentation, reports, manuals, and presentations to effectively communicate project results to intended audiences, ensuring clarity and practical applicability in both oral and written forms.
Provide technical assistance to government, private industry, and academiato support the adoption of ITS, CDA, C-V2X, Sensing, AI, and CAV technologies.
Contribute to the development, support, and review of technical proposals.
Author white papers, proposals, and briefings that demonstrate technical and thought leadership, catering to the needs of Leidos leadership or clients. Basic Qualifications: Bachelors degree with 2+ years of related experience or a Masters with less than 2 years of related experience.
Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance (which includes three years of immediate residency in the US).
Extensive experience working on various transportation system applications and cutting-edge transportation applications.
In-depth knowledge of CAV, Intelligent Transportation Systems, AI and Data Analytics, Transportation Sensing, and traffic operation and management.
Knowledge of various data analytics and simulation techniques in the context of transportation related smart city applications.
Proficiency in at least one programming language (C++, Java, Python, VBA, or Matlab).
Demonstrated ability to author technical research papers and reports.
Strong communication skills (writing, speaking, and listening).
Ability to articulate solutions and rationale for design decisions.
Self-motivated and focused on delivering outcomes.
Ability to work freely and as part of large teams. Preferred Experience: PhD degree in Transportation Engineering, Systems Engineering, Computer Science, or other related fields.
Proficient in the application of co-simulation tools.
Experience developing concept of operations and system requirements documents.
Experience working with ARC-IT and SET-IT.
In-depth understanding of Systems Engineering process.
Solid understanding of Vehicle-to-Everything (V2X) communication protocols and CDA technology architectures.
Demonstrated project coordination and management skills, with a track record of successfully overseeing projects from inception to completion.
Experience with leading or assisting in the development of technical proposals, showcasing the ability to convey complex ideas effectively.
Agile methodology proficiency, with experience in applying agile practices in development environments. Anticipated Salary Range for this role: $80,000 - $100,000 Original Posting Date: 2024-07-29
